“This is my most frank and cool album about love,” says Diana Arbenina, leader of the Night Snipers group, commenting on the release of the disc “only lovers will survive.” In anticipation of the premiere, the 41-year-old rock singer and mother of five-year-old twins talks about her crazy spending and culinary skills.
1. Describe yourself in four words.
Nervous. Thin. Vulnerable. I like to dance.
2. What irritates you often?
Irritating hack, when a person works at half strength. It’s wildly annoying when they try to bend and use me, but I always see it.
3. What is your craziest spending?
Once I came to one American supermarket and bought ketchups, seasonings and salad dressings for 800 bucks (laughs). I also invested heavily in the Russian railway on the St. Petersburg-Moscow route: I bought tickets and didn’t do anything so as not to return to Moscow! The peak of achievements – my friend and I somehow ate our purchased tickets!
4. What would you change about yourself?
Weight! (laughs)

5. Are you a rebel or a conformist?
Well, I’m not a rebel, but no one has yet managed to bend me. Conformism is boring. I am for diplomatic relations.
6. Who is your example?
The examples have discredited themselves. Man is imperfect.
7. Who do you usually consult with?
With your heart. Every year it gets better and better advice. I am the Fox from The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupery.
8. A book or piece of music that helped you get through difficult times.
As presses – I read Joseph Brodsky. His dry poems help. Music? Yes, any. No broken record. Right now I am answering questions, and Ringside is pumping in my ears. I like this group, and it’s great to listen to it on flights: when there was a tour in Asia, they were the only ones that saved me.

9. When did you become the person you are now?
In 1999. No comments.
10. What are you most proud of?
I cook porridge better than anyone in the world (smiles).
11. What is the biggest difference between a man and a woman?
Ask my kids. This topic is of great concern to them now. All they do is look at each other.
12. What is your favorite way to procrastinate?
I’m not a procrastinator (laughs).
13. If you weren’t yourself, what would you like to be?
Tiger, of course. Cosmonaut vacancies are filled.
14. What is the secret to a happy life?
Love and work. And best of all – at the same time!
