DexaPico

DexaPico is an antitussive syrup for children and adults, containing dextromethorphan hydrobromide and linden inflorescence extract.

DexaPico – properties

The active substance in DexaPico is dextromethorphan, which inhibits the cough center in the central nervous system. This effectively reduces the frequency of dry coughing for six to eight hours. The auxiliary substance is an extract of linden inflorescences, soothing irritation of the upper respiratory tract caused by coughing.

DexaPico – application

DexaPico syrup should be used in the states of tiring, dry cough of various origins, not related to the retention of secretions in the respiratory tract.

DexaPico – contraindications

DexaPico should not be used if the child is hypersensitive to its ingredients – they are all exactly listed on the package leaflet with the syrup. Other factors that exclude taking DexaPico syrup are asthma, cough with a lot of secretions, and severe liver problems while taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) and mucolytics (thinning the mucus in the respiratory tract). It should not be taken until 14 days after discontinuation.

DexaPico syrup should not be used in children under 2 years of age.

DexaPico – precautions

The leaflet provided with the DexaPico syrup lists all known side effects. If, during the treatment, side effects not listed on it occur, the administration of the drug should be discontinued immediately and a doctor should be consulted as soon as possible.

The product contains sucrose, which should be taken into account in patients with diabetes mellitus and in the case of people who have been found to be intolerant to some sugars. In this case, the doctor should decide whether to take the drug.

Do not exceed the dose for your age category.

Consult a doctor before use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Since the use of DexaPico may cause drowsiness, the syrup may have an influence on the ability to use machines and drive vehicles.

DexaPico – dosage

The dosage of DexaPico varies depending on the age of the person taking the syrup. In children from 2 to 6 years of age, 2,5 ml can be administered up to three times a day, in the age of 6-12 years 5 ml is recommended three times a day, and in adolescents from 12 years of age and adults, 15 ml 3 times a day . The drug should start working 10 minutes after its administration and last for about 8 hours.

DexaPico – side effects

Some side effects may appear during the treatment with DexaPico. They are classified as light and include: drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, vomiting and the occurrence of allergic reactions on the skin, such as itching or hives.

DexaPico – opinions

Due to its effectiveness and the lack of serious side effects, DexoPico has very positive opinions among doctors, parents and adults. This syrup is one of the cheaper drugs and costs less than PLN 15.
