Detox cures: our advice to get started
For some time now, the fashion for detoxifying cures has been making a lot of talk. This phenomenon from across the Atlantic is practiced by more and more people looking for a natural purification of their body. These cures are done most of the time before the arrival of a new season in order to prepare the organism for a change of diet, as is often the case in winter or summer.
What is a detox cure?
Detox cures would have their origin in naturopathy, which aims to heal in a natural way. Thus, by starting by removing everything that is harmful to our body, we would be less prone to fatigue and chronic viruses. Saturated fat, alcohol, tobacco, refined sugars, caffeine and preservatives are therefore banned from food for the duration of the treatment. It’s about taking control of what you eat, by favoring fresh fruits and vegetables. Thus, there are several detox cures based on a raw and frugivorous diet such as juicing (only composed of juices, soups and smoothies for 1 to 5 days), the monodiet (eat the same food for three days) or fruit and vegetable cure accompanied by herbal food supplements. Regarding the duration of a cure, it is very variable: between one and thirty days. It depends on the desired and felt effects. Be careful not to confuse cure and diet, because the goal here is to relax your body and not to lose weight, even if this is often what happens when you change your diet.
What are the results of a detox cure?
The changes undertaken during a detox cure would have multiple effects. First of all, eating lighter and balanced meals would allow the organs (skin, lungs, liver, kidneys) to more easily evacuate the toxins stored in the body, although this remains controversial. It is also the way to realize that a control of your diet is always synonymous with well-being. Why not take advantage of a cure to change your diet in the long term?
Precautions and advice
Before starting your treatment, it is preferable to have the approval of your doctor, because not everyone can practice it (pregnant women for example). In addition, to start your cure with confidence, it is advisable to have free time in front of you. The beginnings can seem difficult and lead to fatigue, headaches and some digestive problems. It is strongly recommended that you prepare your meals and juices yourself, they will be 100% natural: take the time to stock up on fresh fruits and vegetables, preferably organic. It is also important to drink plenty of water, teas, and herbal teas in order to keep the body hydrated.
