Decisiveness is the ability and ability to independently make responsible decisions and do what you decide, despite the interference. A resolute person can hesitate, but if he decides, hesitation aside, and without further discussion, without returning to the internal discussion, he goes and does it.

Decisiveness is one of the manifestations of the will, along with courage and discipline (self-discipline). Decisiveness is the manifestation of will in making and advancing difficult decisions.

The manifestation of decisiveness is not always instantaneous, but always a timely decision, made both with knowledge of the matter and taking into account specific circumstances.

Decisiveness may well be combined with uncertainty.

Watch the video from the film «Major Payne»: Major Payne demonstrates quite a confident demeanor. Miss Alburn, on the contrary, behaves insecurely: she hesitates, hesitates (look — she physically hesitates!), but, nevertheless, she takes her steps forward and, in this sense, acts quite decisively!

Note that a decisive person is not always consistent, not always methodical, and does not necessarily bring all his decisions to the end. Resolutely started, resolutely promoted — and then just cooled off and resolutely switched to another project. Or — he resolutely said: «Let’s do it!», And then, when faced with dangers, he chickened out …
