Design ideas for a small apartment: studio design from 25 square meters
The trend towards a decrease in housing space has reached its peak: more and more houses are being built for miniature studios and one-room apartments. And interior designers and iconic bureaus deliberately include such projects in their portfolios to demonstrate the skill of planning one-room apartments.

“Stylish, well-thought-out interior knows no boundaries: it can live both in a huge country house with countless rooms, and in a tiny one-room apartment. A functional, practical space can be created in any apartment. “
One bright accent in the interior
So that the modest size of the room is not too conspicuous, use a bright accessory, vase or figurine. These details attract the eye, distracting from the miniature dimensions of the room. A flower or a picture is suitable for a bathroom, for a bedroom – a panel at the head or a figured lamp. And this season, wall decor is in vogue: it looks great in a minimalistic monochrome interior.
Storage gadgets
Such items are especially relevant for the bathroom and kitchen space. We are already used to organizers by the sink: in the bathroom you can place detergents and toothbrushes, and in the kitchen sink you can place sponges, detergent and dishes. I also recommend getting organizers in the form of hanging shelves. They are suitable for storing an infinite number of jars.
Custom-made furniture
Furniture created exactly to measure will help to efficiently use the space in a small apartment. Before proceeding with the repair, decide what the room is for in order to clearly plan out each square meter. It is likely that already in the finished interior there is a small corner where you can compactly build a shelving unit or a functional chest of drawers.
Furniture transformer
The more functions one object performs, the better for a miniature apartment. Choose furniture with a transformation mechanism that turns the bedroom into a living room, and a study into a compact chest of drawers or wardrobe.
Decorative accessories for zoning
Dividing the space into zones visually expands the room. To do this, it is not at all necessary to create partitions or put volumetric racks. A few decorative accessories are enough. Small carpets, lamps, posters or soft ottomans will competently divide any room in accordance with its functions: play areas for a child, a study, a place to sleep or a place to meet friends.
More light
In Scandinavia, this rule is used to extend daylight hours, and in small rooms – to visually expand the space. The rule of light applies to everything: walls, floors, furniture and even accessories. When choosing your wall color, stick to neutral tones. Also plan the room to accommodate several additional types of sconces and lamps. Do not block access to the window: try, like the Danes, to leave them without curtains or choose light translucent beige textiles.
Transparent details
If you’re just starting out with a room’s design, include translucent elements such as doors with glass inserts or small translucent screens. These elements zone the space without depriving the room of natural light.
Mirror effect
Nobody canceled the classic method of expanding space. When choosing a mirror, give preference to laconic models with simple frames. An exception is if you decide to use this accessory as a bright accent.
A mirror opposite the lamp or window visually expands the room. For maximum effect, choose a full-length or ceiling-to-floor model.
Combine Compatible
In a small room, every little thing plays a decisive role. All items should be thought out as much as possible and contain several functions. For example, a decorative figurine can not only look beautiful in a room, but also keep clocks and jewelry in an organized way. And the mirror in the hallway is to combine the function of a small hanging chest of drawers.
Getting rid of excess
Try to understand what things will still be useful to you, and what will gather dust in inactivity for many years. It is impossible to store a million unnecessary items neatly. Today, there are many ways to properly dispose of such things: clothes can be returned to shops for recycling, and plastic items, furniture and books can be taken to specialized collection services.
