Description of the Iskander marrow
The variety was recently bred, but has already become famous for its yield. From 1 hectare, up to 155 tons of crop can be harvested, from one bush up to 15 kg. And this is not the limit. In a greenhouse, the yield increases.
Description of fruits:
- zucchini up to 25 cm in length, weighing up to 550 g;
- the shape of the fruit is cylindrical;
- the skin is thin, but dense, green-pastel shade, there are light dots;
- the skin is covered with a waxy coating;
- the flesh is creamy white, tender and juicy.
The advantage of the variety is the absence of overgrown zucchini.
The bushes are powerful, so they need to be tied to a trellis. If this is not done, the fruits will lose their shape, they will stretch out.
Zucchini variety “Iskander” is profitable to grow on a garden plot. The culture begins to grow very first among other zucchini. Already on the 40-45th day, fruits appear. Iskander is resistant to temperature extremes. Low temperature readings do not affect crop growth. It is also resistant to powdery mildew and anthracnose. Preventive chemical treatment is not required.
Growing marrow “Iskander”
To get friendly shoots, you need to properly prepare the seeds for planting. Select large, heavy seed without surface deformation. Soak it in a growth stimulant solution for a day. Place the seeds on a damp cloth in a warm place, the air temperature should be 22-23 ˚С. Wait for the sprouts to appear.
Sow sprouted material to a depth of 2-3 cm in pots or directly into open ground. Zucchini seedlings should be planted in the beds one month after the first shoots appear. The air temperature should not fall below 18 ˚С.
Zucchini seedlings do not tolerate spring cold snaps, so planting in open ground should be postponed to mid-May
Light sandy loam or loamy soil is suitable for culture. The best predecessors for squash are onions, cauliflower, or cabbage.
Dig planting holes up to 30 cm in diameter and 15 cm deep. Add humus to each hole. Plant crops 1,5 m apart. If the soil is acidic, add dolomite flour.
To grow Iskander zucchini, buy seeds from trusted manufacturers. It will not be possible to prepare planting material on your own, since the variety is hybrid.
