How to plant the Cumberland black raspberry variety?

Growing this variety will not cause difficulties even for novice gardeners. Planting “Cumberland” varieties of black raspberries is carried out in separate bushes. There must be a distance of at least 60 cm between them.

Before planting, it is necessary to make indentations of 30-40 cm and a width of 20-30 cm in the ground. Then pour water into them. It should be absorbed into the soil. After that, plant bushes in them, slightly pressing down at the roots. Fill the depressions with soil and sprinkle with a little water. The next watering must be done in 3-4 days.

The Cumberland black raspberry variety loves feeding. It should be carried out no more than once a year. Preferably in early spring. For this, special fertilizers are used. Some gardeners make their own from potato and banana skins.

These ingredients are poured with water in a one-to-one ratio and allowed to brew for several days. Then the bushes are watered with this agent, after diluting it in the proportion of 1 cup of fertilizer to 3 cups of water.

You need to cut the bushes in late autumn. Over the summer, thick branches 3 m long grow on them. It will be inconvenient to pick berries from them next year. If you do not prune, the branches will intertwine, which will also cause inconvenience in harvesting and caring for the plant.

You can trim the bushes after two years. Do not do this after the first landing. Branches can be injured and the plant will die.

You can spray the bushes only with special means. Otherwise, the raspberries will stop bearing fruit. With proper care, the variety produces a large amount of yield. Berries are rich in vitamins and minerals. You can save them for the winter by freezing. From this, they will not lose their beneficial properties.
