Description of the pear variety Krasulia

Pear “Krasulya” is an elite variety of pome fruits for regions of severe agriculture. It gives good yields, is characterized by increased winter hardiness, but it also has drawbacks.

Description and characteristics of the pear variety “Krasulya”

The variety of domestic selection was bred in the 80s in the city of Chelyabinsk. As a result of crossing of two types of pears “Late” and “Little Joy”, the now famous hybrid was obtained. Most often it is grown in the northern regions, where the summer is short and cold.

Pear “Krasulya” is distinguished by its rounded fruits with a characteristic red barrel

A medium-sized hybrid tree, its height reaches 4 m. The trunk is conical, the bark is rough, the crown is well branched, round, compact. Pear leaves are medium in size with pronounced veins. Flowering occurs in the first half of May, the fruits ripen by August. Fruits are small in size, rounded, in the process of ripening they are covered with a red blush. The peel of the pear is tender, not felt while eating, the flesh is creamy, loose and juicy. The taste is excellent, typical of pears, with a slight hint of spices. Fruiting begins in the fourth year after planting.

Krasulia belongs to self-infertile varieties, therefore it needs pollinators. It is recommended to plant Severyanka and Rainbow pears as pollinators.

Advantages and disadvantages of the Krasulya pear variety

The main advantage of the variety is its winter hardiness, which makes it possible to cultivate a hybrid in a harsh climate. Other characteristics include:

  • good tree immunity;
  • high productivity;
  • excellent taste.

The hybrid is resistant to fungal diseases, it is rarely affected by pests, which is important for cold regions. A young tree produces stable yields that increase with age. 10 years after planting, up to 40 kg of fruits can be harvested from one tree.

Among the disadvantages of the variety, the short shelf life of ripe fruits is distinguished. They can stay in the refrigerator for no more than a week. They try to process the crop or use it fresh. The disadvantages include the high demand of the variety for moisture, especially during the ripening period of pears. If the summer is dry, the taste of the fruit will suffer. They will become tart and less juicy.

If you are choosing a fruit tree for a cold region, then the Krasulya pear variety is what you need. The tree does not require special care, rarely gets sick, gives stable yields even in a short summer.
