This variety is the most hardy in comparison with others. The massive bush forms many flexible shoots, each of them grows up to 3 m. After the end of fruiting, the lash dries up. The aboveground part of the blackberry is renewed every 2 years. In early summer, buds appear, which eventually turn into flowers.
Blackberry “Chester” gives a rich harvest of berries
The fruits are formed in July-August. When they are shiny black, it means they are fully ripe. The berries reach 3 cm, their weight is up to 8 g, they are collected in a brush. Due to their high density, this variety is easy to tolerate.
The fruit has a sour taste. To prevent them from losing their taste, do not store them for long. The berry gives a rich harvest, so the branches need support. Harvest the fruits completely, even if there are a lot of them – the next time the berries will be even larger and juicier.

Growing varieties of blackberry “Chester” m
If the site for planting is selected correctly, then the blackberry will grow without problems. The growing area should not be heavily shaded or waterlogged. The soil should be loose.
The landing procedure looks like this:
- In the spring, a hole of 0,3 m is made.If there are several seedlings, the distance between the holes should be at least 2,5 m.
- Fertilizer is poured into the hole – to the bottom and to the roots.
- A seedling is placed. It must have at least 2 developed shoots. There should be no leaves on the sprout. The rhizome must be at least 15 cm.
- The sprout is watered and mulched with bark. In the second year after planting, the bush must be cut off. Then do it regularly.
Old shoots are also removed, only no more than 7 young ones are left for the winter.
Growing nuances:
- Before planting a plant, prepare the soil 3 weeks before planting;
- the bush can grow in one place for up to 15 years, it is not necessary to transplant it;
- apply fertilizers only after watering;
- form a bush in spring – remove broken and damaged shoots;
- cut the shoots completely after harvest.
Do not throw away the cut off tip – it is used for reproduction.
As you can see, the blackberry of this variety is unpretentious in care. If grown correctly, it will give a rich harvest. Berries are consumed fresh, compotes and jam are cooked from them, decoctions are made from leaves.
