Serbian spruce is one of the fastest growing types of spruce. She has an openwork crown and a straight, powerful trunk. It is suitable for creating an alley.

This spruce attracts attention with its beautiful appearance. Its crown is spreading, up to 3-4 m in diameter. A tree grows up to 20 m in height, there are specimens up to 40 m in height. Spruce grows quickly. In the first years, the increase is insignificant, then after 2-3 years the trunk becomes 35 cm higher annually, and the crown is 15 cm wider.

  • The crown is conical or narrow pyramidal in shape, the bark is red-gray, slightly rough. The trunk of an adult spruce is up to 1 m in diameter.

How to grow a Serbian decorative spruce

This spruce is suitable for the Russian climate. It is frost-resistant, can withstand frosts down to -42˚С. It can withstand high temperatures and high humidity better than other types.

  • resistant to urban conditions, smoke and gas pollution;
  • unpretentious in care, does not require pruning;

For planting, it is better to choose a site with loamy soil. The tree can grow in poor soil, but if the soil is fertile, then the crown will be more lush. Spruce needs good aeration. Stagnant water is destructive for her.

For a tree to grow quickly, it needs sunlight. Growth will slow down in the shade. After planting a young seedling, soil compaction should not be allowed, so loosen the soil to a depth of 7 cm. The spruce does not like replanting, this procedure weakens it. In summer, it is advisable to water young seedlings 1-2 times a week. Pour out 10 liters of water.

Decorative spruce from Serbia is ideal for landscaping the city. It can be used in group plantings to create alleys and decorate recreation areas, it also looks beautiful in solo performance.
