How to grow Radar onions?

This variety can be grown in two ways:

  • Sow the seeds and collect the sets. Sow in the fall, then in the middle of summer, collect planting material for winter planting. The advantage of this growing method is that you can prepare high-quality seedlings that do not need to be stored in the winter. Seeds must be sown in open ground no deeper than 1 cm, the distance between rows is 30 cm.
  • Plant the onion with sevkom. It is better to plant the bulbs after the garlic in the cooled ground to a depth of 6-8 cm. They should not germinate until winter, so choose the right planting dates. The optimal time is mid-October – early November. Choose a set no larger than 1 cm in diameter.

When growing “Radar”, keep in mind that loamy or sandy loam soil is suitable for it. In acidic soil, seedlings may not germinate. He prefers loose, neutral soil. Before planting, disinfect the soil with a solution of potassium permanganate or add wood ash to the rows.

For growing “Radar” choose an elevated area, the culture does not tolerate stagnant moisture.

It is profitable to grow winter onion varieties in a garden plot, since two crops can be harvested per season. Fresh fruits will ripen by the time last year’s supplies have already run out or have lost their original taste.
