Dermatix – action
Dermatix is a medicinal medical device whose formula is a gel. The preparation contains polysiloxanes – these are compounds whose polymer structure consists of a chain composed of oxygen and silicon atoms arranged alternately. The specific physicochemical properties of polysiloxanes make preparations based on them highly flexible at room temperature. Polysiloxanes are obtained, among others from purified sand (silica). Due to the appropriate composition, the Dermatix preparation smoothes and softens the skin, covering it with a protective layer. Moreover, polysiloxanes significantly reduce the excessive loss of water from the skin, which means that the affected area of the skin (e.g. a scar) is much better moisturized and its size is reduced. The polysiloxanes contained in the Dermatix preparation have a potential impact on the activity of the collagenase enzyme, which is responsible for catalysing the reaction of collagen decomposition in the scar. It is supposed that this may be one of the mechanisms of action of the active substance.
Dermatix – indications for use
The main indications for the use of Dermatix are:
- long-lasting postoperative, traumatic and burn scars;
- redness and itching at the site of scar formation;
- making both new and old scars more flexible and smaller;
- prevention of improper scarring process in the form of keloid (keloids) or a hypertrophic scar;
- treatment of scars after the wound healing process is completed;
- reduction or complete reduction of skin discoloration accompanying scarring;
- irregular scars and scars appearing on moving parts of the body, such as the face and joints.
Dermatix – dosage
The medicinal medical device Dermatix is in the form of a gel for application to the skin. The application should be as follows: on the skin, spread a small amount of Dermatix gel, applying a thin layer to the entire surface of the scar (cannot be used on damaged skin!), Gently massaging it in. It is a quick-drying preparation, but after applying it, wait about 4-5 minutes for the gel to absorb completely. If the gel does not dry out after this time, it usually means the amount applied is too large. The excess can be removed by gently rubbing with a tissue. Dermatix should be used twice a day (morning and evening), unless your doctor or pharmacist tells you otherwise. To obtain measurable results, use the preparation for at least two months. Dermatix gel is safe for children. Importantly, the preparation does not cause the maceration effect, which can be seen when using some plasters containing silicones. This makes the skin wrinkled, moist and pale, and gives the appearance of soggy skin.
Dermatix – contraindications to use
The Dermatix gel is generally well tolerated due to the optimally selected ingredients. The main contraindication to the use of the preparation is fresh, open wounds.
Dermatix – warnings
The Dermatix preparation is intended for external use in the aforementioned ailments. Dermatix gel must not be applied to open wounds! After applying the preparation, wait a while (about 5 minutes), because the unabsorbed consistency of the gel may create stains on the clothes. It is possible to apply cosmetics after applying the gel (and drying it) on the face. Dermatix gel should not be applied around the eyes or on mucous membranes. The preparation should be stored at a temperature not higher than 25 degrees Celsius, and also out of the reach of children.
Dermatix – interactions
Dermatix should be applied to dry, clean skin. Application should not be carried out with concomitant use of other cutaneous preparations, including antibiotics or glucocorticoids. This may weaken or intensify the effect of the preparation or drugs used at the same time. If it is necessary to use other preparations simultaneously with the Dermatix gel, consult a doctor.
Dermatix – side effects
Like all preparations, also Dermatix may cause certain side effects. However, they are extremely rare and mainly include: skin irritation, itching, pain. Occasionally redness or erythema may appear. If side effects occur while using the medicinal product Dermatix, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
