  • the average length of the leaves is 7 cm;
  • flowering duration – 14 days;
  • number of flowers in inflorescences – 60 pcs.;

Blood-red derain blooms for the first time at the age of seven. The most popular varieties are:

  • Midwinter Fier;
  • Variegated;
  • Tablet.

Let’s consider each of the varieties in more detail.

A bush reaching a height and width of 1,5 meters. The crown is spreading. Shoots are orange-red in color. The leaves are green, but in autumn they turn red and orange. In late spring, the plant is covered with umbrellas of white inflorescences. Among gardeners, it is famous for its unpretentiousness and resistance to winter cold. The shrub grows well in urban climates and is not afraid of drought. The plant heals well after rejuvenating haircuts. But among all its advantages, it has an unpleasant disadvantage – slow growth. For planting, it is better to choose a humid place that is often illuminated by the sun. In order for the bush to always look neat, it must be cut low every five years.

A four-meter shrub of red deren. Young seedlings have light green shoots. However, with age, they acquire a burgundy hue. The leaves of the plant are yellow even in the warm season. At the end of spring, the bush is strewn with white inflorescences, which by autumn turn into black small fruits with a blue tint.

A two-meter shrub with a vertical crown, which, unlike other types of deren, never blooms. Shoots grow slowly and are colored brown green. In summer, the leaves are green, but turn red before falling off. The plant tolerates frost well, but during a drought it can die.

If you want to grow turf on your site, then be sure to pay attention to these varieties. After all, even after the leaves fall, bright red shoots will decorate your garden.
