Depression: how to get rid of and get out of it? Video

It is impossible to be in a good mood indefinitely: periods of blues and apathy occur in almost every person. Sometimes such “gray” gaps serve as a kind of relief, a respite between periods of intense activity. If apathy drags on and affects all spheres of life, it is worth thinking about ways to deal with a bad mood and loss of interest in life. How to get rid of depression?

How to get rid of depression, blues and apathy

It is worth considering contacting a specialist (physician, psychologist or psychotherapist) in the following cases:

  • if periods of depression are usually unusual for you, apathy came unexpectedly and for no apparent reason
  • if melancholy drags on, and attempts to cope with it on their own do not give a result
  • if the bad mood is accompanied by a deterioration in well-being, weakness, headaches, dizziness, unexplained pain, loss of appetite, or, on the contrary, an irrepressible desire to constantly eat
  • if apathy is accompanied by memory impairments, problems with concentration
  • if you are under constant stress, have suffered a serious illness or severe shock

In other cases, attempts to overcome the blues on their own can not only have no effect, but also seriously harm – this concerns clinical depression, which is sometimes impossible to distinguish from temporary weakness without the help of an experienced specialist. It is not always possible to cure depression without the help of a psychologist or psychotherapist and without medication.

Apathy and weakness can be symptoms of endocrine disease (hypothyroidism), anemia, hypovitaminosis, and a sluggish infection

If you are confident that you do not need professional help, try to deal with apathy and boredom yourself. Reconsider your work schedule, diet and sleep – maybe your body is just signaling the need for rest? Routine work, lack of vivid impressions, lack of sleep and poor nutrition can make you see the whole world in black and white.

Do not demand the impossible from yourself, do not try to work through force – the results are still unlikely to satisfy both you and your bosses. Take a vacation or use the weekend to the fullest – do not seek to redo all the things that have accumulated in the week, but take time for yourself, remember what you have long wanted to do, but have been putting off all the time.

Pamper yourself, but it’s best to do it without the help of alcohol or tasty food – it’s so easy to get into the habit of seizing problems. A massage session, going to the cinema or to a creative workshop will be just right

Change the scenery – get out of town with a loved one or girlfriend, arrange a weekend tour for yourself and go on an entertaining tourist trip.

Be outside as often as possible, especially if the apathy is seasonal.

In winter and autumn, bouts of melancholy and weakness can cause a lack of vitamins, including vitamin D, produced by exposure to sunlight.

If it’s too cold for walking, go to the solarium. Reconsider your diet – perhaps you should reduce the amount of food containing fast carbohydrates in it, eat more fatty fish and fresh vegetables.

You should not try to regain vigor with the help of dietary supplements or medications – even adaptogens recommended for persistent low mood and weakness should be taken as prescribed by a doctor.
