The denture should be properly fitted, which has a great impact on how you feel later. The material from which the dentures are made is also important. Our body gets used to some dentures much faster. What types of dentures are there? What are the characteristics of individual dentures? What is the cost of a dentures?

Dental prostheses – recommendations

Dental prostheses are recommended when there are empty spaces in the mandible, but also when for some reason we have lost our natural teeth. The current technology allows dentures to be adjusted in such a way that it is difficult to distinguish them from natural teeth.

Missing teeth should be replaced, not only for aesthetic reasons. Missing teeth can lead to dental disorders. When there is a gap in the lower jaw, the teeth begin to shift, which can lead to malocclusion as well as malfunction of the mandibular joints. Moreover, unstable teeth are more prone to damage and can start falling out.

Eating can also be a problem. An incomplete bite works completely differently, which translates into grinding food, and this is associated with digestive disorders. Incomplete dentition also contributes to speech problems.

Dental prostheses – removable dentures

Removable dentures, as the name suggests, can be put on and taken off. They are used both for filling single cavities and for creating a completely new tooth jaw.

Removable dentures should be put on during the day and removed at night. This allows the gums and mucosa to rest. These types of dentures take longer to get used to because talking and eating are completely different than with natural dentition. In this case, the adaptation process may take up to several months.

There are acrylic removable dentures, skeletal dentures and overlay dentures. The first type is the cheapest (from PLN 60 to PLN 150 for an artificial tooth with assembly). Removable acrylic dentures are placed between healthy teeth. It can be very difficult to get used to at first. Frame dentures are more stable than acrylic ones because they rest on a metal structure and not on the gums. This makes the adaptation faster. The cost of a skeleton dentures ranges from about PLN 800 upwards. Overlay dentures are based on implants, thanks to which the stability is very high. The wearing comfort is also higher. The cost of an overlay dentures starts from about PLN 500.

Dental prostheses – permanent dentures

Permanent dentures are used in people without natural teeth. The most popular are acrylic permanent dentures, which are placed on the gums with a fixing cream. The cost of such a prosthesis is from about PLN 150 per point.

The second type of permanent dentures are those fixed on implants. Their cost is higher, even above PLN 1500, but the comfort of use also increases. Fixing dentures on implants increases their stability, a person gets used to artificial teeth faster, and eating harder foods is not difficult.
