Dennie-Morgan symptom – when it occurs, location, epidemiology

Syn .: Dennie-Morgan fold, infraorbital Dennie-Morgan fold.

Def.: A typical symptom of atopic dermatitis characterized by deepening of the folds of the infraorbital (double fold of the lower eyelid). One of the smaller diagnostic criteria of Hanifin and Rajka’s atopic dermatitis.

Epid.: It occurs in the course of atopic dermatitis, mainly in children (about 70%), less often in adults. It is also present in healthy children, mostly blacks (about 70%), rarely in adults. Observed in a significant percentage of healthy children, especially blacks.

Etiol .: Atopic dermatitis.

Loc.: The skin of the face, the area of ​​the eye socket under the lower eyelid.

Wedge: Thickening of the infraorbital folds, a double infraorbital fold.

DR: Nasal wrinkle (salute symptom) – a transverse fold of skin at the base of the nose that results from the constant pushing up of the nose and blowing out mucus.

Heal: Atopic dermatitis.
