The love of gastronomic pleasures knows no bounds, and sometimes takes on very bizarre forms. The experts of the Guinness Book of Records, who have seen a lot in their time, barely have time to record new achievements around the world. But even they are sometimes confused by what they see.
Passion for sausages
Fans of refreshment on occasion and without are ready to destroy the weekly food supply of any restaurant in a matter of minutes, just to get the title of the world’s fastest glutton. The invariable dish for this kind of competition is still a hot dog. In 2013, Joey “Jaws” Chestnut became the seven-time champion in the fast-eating sausage rolls. In the allotted 10 minutes, he managed to destroy as many as 69 hot dogs. Like a true knight, he dedicated his victory to his beloved, who desperately encouraged him during the competition.
The fastest hot dog eater among women once again became the invincible Sonya Thomas with the cute nickname Black Widow. Her personal best last year was 37 hot dogs in 10 minutes. By the way, Sony has many other interesting achievements in the field of eating food for a while: 65 eggs in 40 seconds, 35 sausages in 10 minutes, 44 lobsters in 12 minutes and 181 chicken wings in 12 minutes. Anyone who sees this tiny, fragile creature weighing 50 kg for the first time is genuinely surprised at how miraculously such impressive amounts of food fit in it.
Another American, Molly Skyler, recently set an equally discouraging record. After ordering a 2kg steak with a plentiful side dish of potatoes and vegetables from a Portland restaurant, she finished off the big meat man in just 2.5 minutes. It is noteworthy that the owner of the previous record, Peter Czerwinski, overcame the giant steak in only 7 minutes.
The exploits of these representatives of the beautiful half of humanity suggest that Robin-Bobin existed in the real world and left behind worthy descendants.
Dishes of universal scale
While some characters are passionate about eating, others are equally enthusiastic about cooking. The main principle that they are guided by is that size matters. So, the owners of a Turkish entertainment center decided to arrange an attraction of unprecedented generosity and treat visitors to the world’s largest omelet. In just 2.5 hours, it took 90 cooks to fry an omelet weighing 4.4 tons in a pan with a diameter of 10 meters. It took 110 thousand eggs and 432 liters of milk to prepare it. By the way, the cooks patiently broke the eggs the day before, spending the whole day on it. The reward for their efforts was the gratitude of the guests of the center, each of whom got a small piece of omelet.
The world’s largest hamburger was prepared by a married couple Joe and Iman El-Ajouz from Australia. They created a giant sandwich in their own cafe for 12 hours. Anyone who has a cutlet weighing 81 kg, 150 slices of processed cheese, 12 dozen eggs, 1.5 kg of beets, 2.5 kg of fresh tomatoes and about 2 kg of lettuce leaves can reproduce the recipe. The highlight of the record-breaking burger was the signature sauce, designed specifically for the occasion.
The Italians do not intend to concede the primacy in the field of pizza making to anyone. It is not surprising that the last record with the participation of this dish belongs to five Roman pizzaiolo, who prepared a giant pizza with a diameter of 40 meters. In order to bake it, it took 9 tons of flour, 675 kg of margarine, 25 liters of vinegar, 4.5 tons of tomato paste, 4 tons of cheese and 100 kg of lettuce leaves. The creation of the pizza took 48 hours without sleep and rest. However, the joy of the set record was boundless, especially since in the end, a hearty treat was distributed to the homeless.
The glorious city of Chicago, among other merits, is now known as the birthplace of the world’s largest chocolate bar. It was there that a chocolate bar weighing 5.5 tons was born.
The creation of the sweet monolith took 771 kg of cocoa butter, 635 kg of chocolate liqueur, 907 kg of milk powder, 544 kg of almonds and 2494 kg of sugar. However, it was not possible to try the chocolate immediately, because after registering the record, she went on a tour of America called ” Think big. Eat wisely.”
Culinary battles
Using products for other purposes is much more fun than just eating them or cooking something, – especially creative record holders are convinced. With this in mind, Brian Pank demonstrated to the world how to juggle three apples for 30 seconds, while biting them 65 times in the process. Johnny Dell of Texas holds the all-time sports record for the longest throw of a raw egg at a distance of 98.5 m. It is noteworthy that the egg remained intact.
Some foods, such as fresh tomatoes, are very convenient to use as a weapon of battle. In practice, this has been confirmed hundreds of times by the residents of Spain, where they organize the annual friendly battles of “Tomatino”. As history shows, the largest of them occurred in 1998 in the town of Bunyol. It was attended by about 30 thousand people and 100 tons of tomatoes. They conduct similar battles today. The only rule that the organizers strongly ask you to follow is to crush the tomato before throwing it at the enemy in order to avoid serious injuries.
Battle of pies-a classic of the genre, besides a great reason to have fun from the heart. The largest battle in this category took place in 2010 in a schoolyard in the town of Lowresville (New Jersey) and gathered 671 fighters under their banners. They used 1,541 chocolate mousse cakes as projectiles. By the way, they were prepared by the participants themselves, and tasted right during the battle.
Someone looks at all these mass foolishness with condemnation, someone-with bewilderment, others can not hide a smile. However, for culinary record holders, all this does not matter at all. After all, they bring nothing incomparable pleasure to the process itself, and the memory of the feat remains an entry in the Guinness Book of Records.
