The degeneration of the knee joints is the most common form of degenerative joint changes, occurring mostly in obese people.

In these cases, as a result of the chronic excessive load on the cartilage of the articular surfaces of these joints, the possibility of shock absorption (through these cartilages) (e.g. when walking up stairs) is reduced. Any injuries accelerate the development of degenerative changes. As a result, there are changes on the surface of the articular cartilages of the knee joints and the unevenness of these surfaces. Then there are pain and the sensation of crackling or friction inside these joints. At the same time, there is a change in the external shapes (outlines) of the joints and the limitation of the range of movements.

Diagnosis

It is determined by the doctor on the basis of radiological changes in the width of the articular space and the contour of the articular surface and the articular parts of the bone structure.

Treatment

Only a doctor should drive.

It aims to relieve the degenerated joints, remove inflammatory and pain reactions and improve movement by means of properly conducted therapeutic gymnastics. The results of such proceedings favorably support and consolidate periodic balneological and spa treatment.
