Default Templates in Excel

• Book.xltx
• Sheet.xltx

Book.xltx и Sheet.xltx are special templates that can be created and added to a folder XLSTART. As a result, Excel will use Book.xltxas the basis for new books, and Sheet.xltx – as a basis for new sheets.

Book.xltx

To create Book.xltx, follow the instructions below:

1. Create a new document. Set the height to 30px for all rows of the first sheet.

Note: You can also add a header or footer, change the style, add or remove sheets, and so on.

2. On the Advanced tab Fillet (File) click Save as (Save as).
3. In the File name (File name) enter “Book”.
4. Select from the drop down list below Excel Template (* .xltx) (Template Excel).Excel will automatically open the save folder templates (custom templates). Be careful not to save the template there. Instead go to the folder XLSTART. It is usually located here:

   C:Documents and SettingsАнтоновыApplication DataMicrosoftExcelXLSTART

   or here:

   C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOffice14XLSTART

5. Press Save (Save).
6. Close and reopen Excel. Excel created a new workbook based on the template Book.xltx.

Note: To stop using Book.xltx, just delete the file from the folder XLSTART. To open a template Book.xltx to edit, click the button Open (Open) tab Fillet (File). Edit the file and save in the original folder.

Sheet.xltx

Repeat the previous steps, but this time create a book from one sheet and name it Sheet.xltx. This template will be used as the basis for new sheets that you add to your workbooks.
