Do you often get sick, catch infections and feel like you have a cold every now and then? The cause of reduced immunity does not have to be only disorders of the immune system. We usually do not associate the tendency to frequent diseases with the wrong lifestyle – and it can have a huge impact here. If our immunity is weak, we must consider whether it is not due to various negligence: lack of physical activity, poor hygiene or too little vitamins in the diet.

When there is a sudden cough, fever or runny nose, our body is struggling with an infection, most often caused by viruses. How quickly we deal with the disease depends on the general condition of our body. The condition of the immune system is an individual issue for each of us. If it is lowered, the symptoms of any infection will appear very quickly and more severely, and the treatment takes longer and is more complex. When the immune system works as it should, the disease progresses more slowly and it is easier to fight it.

What is the cause of reduced immunity? Potential causes

Some people, despite taking care of themselves, often get sick. Then we can deal with disorders and immunological defects that reduce the body’s resistance. We have no influence on such congenital changes, but we can strengthen and improve our immunity thanks to certain activities.

  • Insufficient hygiene – that is, frequent hand washing and avoiding places where the risk of infection is higher (e.g. hospitals, shopping centers, etc.). It is not without reason that it is recommended to wash your hands after each return from work, and definitely before eating. A large number of pathogens, especially viruses, are transmitted through secretions and contaminated surfaces. Excessive hygiene, however, is equally disastrous – it can have the opposite effect, so everything in moderation.
  • Poor mental condition – i.e. stress, depression, too little sleep, busy lifestyle. All this weakens the immune system.
  • Inappropriate clothing – in the autumn and winter season, you need to remember about appropriate clothing, preferably “onion”. Also, remember to wear a hat.
  • Poor condition – you should toughen your body by moving in the fresh air, regardless of the weather. Ventilate the apartment often, do not avoid bathing in cool water and walking barefoot.
  • Incorrect diet – both obesity and malnutrition are common causes of catching an infection.

How to get stronger?

To avoid diseases, you should strengthen your immunity with these measures:

  1. Vitamin C – probably the most well-known way to prevent colds. Ascorbic acid is best taken in the form of fresh fruit, and when we do not have such an opportunity, you can reach for vitamin preparations or juices: blackcurrant, chokeberry or wild rose.
  2. Tran – the omega-3 fatty acids contained in it strengthen immunity, inhibit and soothe the intensity of inflammatory reactions.
  3. Purge – in the form of tablets or infusion. It is used to treat influenza, prevent viral and bacterial infections.
  4. protective vaccinations,
  5. Herbs and over-the-counter drugs – or medicinal preparations using natural ingredients, e.g. elderberry, coltsfoot, echinacea, aloe vera, chamomile, linden.
