A mosaic of fragments of ceramic tiles – and an ordinary clay pot turns into a colorful decor item or an original gift. We are sure that indoor flowers will be delighted with this wonderful transformation.
It is better to sand the sharp edges of tile fragments with sandpaper so as not to accidentally cut yourself. For fixing the mosaic, you can use both ordinary adhesive and express glue with an increased drying rate (the choice depends on how quickly you can lay all the parts). The seams between the mosaic elements must be cleaned of tile adhesive with a damp soft cloth or sponge.
- The tiles are laid face down on a solid and stable wooden surface, covered with an old cloth and smashed with a hammer.
- The dry glue mixture is placed in a rubber container and filled with the required amount of water. The solution is thoroughly mixed and, after obtaining a homogeneous mass, is applied to the surface of the pot with a notched trowel.
- Following the artistic idea, the fragments of the tile are fixed on the pot with light pressure. The seams between the fragments should be made as narrow as possible.
- Then the seams between the mosaic elements are filled with a trowel using a rubber trowel. As in the case of tile glue, work is done with rubber gloves.
- The hole along the edge of the pot is covered with grout. To apply the composition, use a spatula made of soft polyurethane foam
- When the joints are dry, remove excess grout with a soft cloth or a piece of foam sponge.
Perfect seams made easy!
The seams between the mosaic elements must be carefully and neatly filled. Accidentally formed voids must be repaired with grout.
If, processing the seams, you slightly overdid it and “stopped” on colored glaze, be sure to remove the excess fugue. It is not difficult to wipe off even dried grout. For this, it is better to use regular foam rubber.
Cut a piece to a suitable size, dampen it in warm water and squeeze well. Cleaning the new pot outfit with a sponge that is too damp can damage the grout that has just hardened.
