Decorative flower bamboo: how to care
The bamboo flower is original and beautiful. Once you see a plant, it is impossible to forget it, it is so different from all home flowers. Followers of the Feng Shui philosophy put vases and pots with bamboo to enhance the positive energy of the house and call it the flower of happiness and good luck.
What does decorative bamboo look like?
The flower has nothing to do with the giant forty-meter trunks of tropical bamboo. This is an artificially bred plant from the Dracaena family, Dracaena Sander, which is only very similar to the “namesake”.

Indoor bamboo is a perennial plant. It is distinguished not only by its amazing resemblance to the trunk of a bamboo tree. The plant has other original features:
- it has a fleshy thick trunk;
- hedgehog of green leaves at the top;
- various shades of the trunk: pale green, grayish, ocher-golden.
Dracaena growing in the wild can stretch up to 2-3 meters. However, at home, in order to maintain an attractive appearance, bamboo must remain miniature. Dwarf varieties grow up to 40-50 cm, tall plants – up to 1 m, but they can be artificially suspended in growth.
However, the most unusual quality of indoor bamboo is its ability to live in water. It looks amazingly beautiful and unusual. The flower also grows in the ground, so flower growers have a choice: place the bamboo in a transparent glass vessel or an ordinary flower pot.
How to care for a bamboo flower
If you create favorable conditions for the plant, it will delight the heart and surprise guests for many years. Bamboo feels best on the west or east side. You can put a container or vessel on a windowsill, but protect it from direct sunlight with a curtain. To form a beautiful shape, prune the side branches 4 cm from the trunk.
Bamboo is capricious, so the grower will have to learn the rules for caring for a finicky flower.
- Keep at a temperature not lower than 18 ° C, preferably 24-25 ° C.
- Do not leave in a draft.
- Avoid overdrying the air: spray the trunk and leaves from a spray bottle, do not place near heating and heating devices.
- Have regular bathing by wiping the leaves with a damp cloth.
If the leaves and trunk turn yellow, then the care of the flower is wrong. Maybe the water for irrigation is cold or of poor quality. If the plant lives in an aquatic environment, monitor the purity of the water, change it every week, apply universal mineral fertilizers every 3 months. Treat your potted bamboo like a regular indoor flower.
Homemade bamboo is an original houseplant that decorates the interior. It is not difficult to look after him, but the capricious flower loves attention, so you will have to scrupulously follow all the rules for its content.
