In this tutorial, we will show you how to round numbers and how to hide decimal places in Excel without changing the value itself.
- Enter the number 2.175 into a cell A1.
- Double click the button Decrease Decimal (Decrease bit depth) in a group Number (Number) tab Home (Home). Also pay attention to the adjacent button Increase Decimal (Increase bit depth).
Note: If you look at the formula bar, you will see that the cell A1 still contains the value 2.175.
- By hiding some of the decimals, you can still use the exact (unrounded) value in calculations.
Note: If you want to use 2.2to get the result 6.6, round the value in the cell A1.
