The result of the calculation logarithm of a number is the power to which one number must be raised to obtain another.

Decimal logarithm is a logarithm whose base is the number 10. Denoted as lg and is written like this:

lg y = log₁₀ y=xAt y> 0

lg y is a solution to the equation y = 10 ^x. In other words, to what extent (x) you need to raise the number 10 to get y.

Relation to the natural logarithm

lg x ≈ 0,43429 ln x

This ratio is obtained by passing to a new base:

because ln 10 ≈ 2,30259
