Disorders in the digestive tract bother many people. You can help yourself by using, among others Debridat. What are the properties? What are the opinions about it? What does the leaflet describe? Here is some helpful information.

Debridet – what kind of drug is it?

Debridat is a prescription medicine used in the treatment of gastrointestinal disorders in the form of film-coated tablets or granules for oral suspension. The chemical composition of Debridat includes auxiliary substances, e.g. lactose monohydrate, gel corn starch, tartaric acid, silicon dioxide. The tablet shell contains, among others: titanium dioxide, lactose monohydrate and hypromellose.

The active substance of the preparation is trimebutine. It is a substance used in the symptomatic treatment of intestinal and gastrointestinal motility disorders. Sometimes it is also used by people with cramps, abdominal pain, biliary tract disorders, constipation and gastrointestinal disorders caused by stress.

Trimebutin is almost completely absorbed after oral administration and reaches its highest concentration after about 30 minutes, although sometimes this time may be extended to 2 hours. About 5% is bound to plasma proteins, is metabolized in the liver and excreted in the urine. Animal studies have not shown any teratogenic effects on offspring, but there are no studies that would fully support that pregnant women can use it without worrying about the health of the baby. The substance should not be taken, in particular, by women in the first trimester.

Debridat – indications for use

Debridat is used in the symptomatic treatment of motor disorders and intestinal complaints associated with disorders of the gastrointestinal tract. Debridat – contraindications

Debridat is a prescription drug, so check with your doctor or pharmacist before using it. A contraindication to taking the drug is hypersensitivity or allergy to even one component of the drug. In some cases, it is possible to increase the dose to 6 tablets a day. The drug in the form of a suspension should be taken 3 times a day – 1 scoop (15 ml). Sometimes you can increase it to 6 scoops a day, also 15 ml. This recommendation is for adults only.

Children and adolescents usually receive 1 ml / kg body weight in 2 or 3 doses. In their case, the maximum dose is 45 ml per day – however, this is the recommendation for children and adolescents weighing more than 45 kg. Before taking the first dose of the drug, patients should consult a specialist, e.g. a doctor, pharmacist or nurse. What’s more, he should also tell you what medications he intends to take. Debridate, when used simultaneously with zotepine, enhances its anticholinergic effects.

Debridat – when to consider using the drug?

The preparation helps in the treatment of intestinal motility disorders. Symptoms of colonic motility disorders are most often constipation or the development of the giant colon. Constipation occurs when a person has a bowel movement twice a week or less, and the stools are hard and it is difficult to pass them. The cause of constipation may be, for example, the presence of an obstacle on the side of the intestinal lumen or from the outside – a pelvic fracture, neoplastic changes or bone debris.

Gastric motility disorders are manifested by delayed emptying. Symptoms may include indigestion with associated upper abdominal pain, heartburn and belching. Sometimes there are also vomiting, malnutrition and dehydration. This condition is called gastroparesis and it is advisable to consult your doctor if you experience these symptoms.

Debridat – reviews

Opinions of Debridat users can be read, among others on internet forums. Young mothers who gave the drug to children suffering from colic attacks most often talk about it. Some say that Debridat works quickly and effectively, while others say that the child’s health did not improve after being given the drug.

Home remedies for intestinal motility disorders

Treating constipation with home remedies is primarily based on changing your lifestyle and including fiber-based foods and drinking more fluids in your diet. You can also use herbs that support the work of the intestines, such as:

  1. Aloe leaf juice – accelerates metabolism, regulates the pH of the stomach and supports the functioning of the digestive system. The drink has laxative properties and improves the activity of intestinal villi responsible for the absorption of nutrients. In addition, when used externally, it tones and refreshes the complexion.
  2. Buckthorn bark – owes its popularity to its laxative properties. The bark of buckthorn contains anthranoid glycosides that stimulate the functioning of the large intestine. It is also cholagogic, stimulates bile secretion and has antifungal and antiviral properties. Buckthorn bark should not be used long-term due to its side effects. It is worth knowing that it enhances the effects of cardiac drugs.
  3. Root of the digestion – supports intestinal peristalsis, has a laxative effect and has a strong effect on the intestines. Although it contains many valuable minerals, e.g. potassium, phosphorus, magnesium and sodium, it should be used on an ad hoc basis.
