Debretin is a drug used in family medicine and gastroenterology. The drug affects the digestive tract and improves metabolism. Debretin regulates the work of the intestines, it is used to improve their function.

Debretin – composition

1 tablet of Debretin contains 100 mg of trimebutin maleate.

Other ingredients: microcrystalline cellulose, crospovidone, magnesium stearate, hypromellose, microcrystalline cellulose, stearic acid, titanium dioxide (E171).

Debretin – action

Debretin are coated tablets, the active substance of which is trimebutin, which is responsible for the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract. This factor affects intestinal peristalsis, esophageal sphincter and gastric emptying. Trimebutin affects opioid receptors, which in turn leads to inhibition or stimulation of gastrointestinal motility. It takes about 1-2 hours for Debretin to appear in the blood after use. The preparation is excreted in the urine.

Debretin – indications

Debretin is a prescription medicine that is only intended for adults. Doctors prescribe it for patients with bowel problems (e.g. irritable bowel syndrome) or gastrointestinal disorders (abdominal pain, intestinal cramps, diarrhea or constipation). The active substance in Debretin is trimebutin, an organic chemical compound that stimulates the work of the intestines. Debretin is available as tablets.

Debretin – dosage

Dosage: 100 mg (1 tablet) three times a day. In exceptional cases, the doctor may increase the dose to 600 mg (6 tablets) a day in divided doses.

It should be remembered that the preparation is in the form of lozenges for oral use. Do not take more than the recommended dose, as this may be life or health-threatening. The tablets can be swallowed whole with a glass of water.

If the patient forgot to take the medicine, do not make up for the forgotten tablet, but skip the tablet and continue the treatment according to the original schedule.

Debretin – contraindications

Hypersensitivity to any of its ingredients is a contraindication to the use of Debretin. Do not use the preparation in women in the first trimester of pregnancy.

Debretin – warnings

When taking Debretin, you should be aware of situations where its use may not be appropriate.

  1. Certain diseases may prevent you from taking Debretin.
  2. Only adults can use Debretin.
  3. There is no information on the influence of the drug on the ability to drive vehicles and operate machinery / machines.
  4. Women in the first trimester of pregnancy cannot use the drug.
  5. Pregnant women in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy may take Debretin only if the doctor deems it necessary and when in his opinion the benefits outweigh the possible risks.
  6. Store the drug in its original packaging, in a dry place with a temperature not exceeding 25 ° C. It is important that children do not have access to it.
  7. Breastfeeding women should consult a doctor before using the drug.

Other Drugs and Debretin

Always inform the prescribing physician about taking other medications, even over-the-counter ones!

1. Taking Debretin together with trimebutin and zotepine may enhance the anticholinergic effects.

2. Trimebutin contained in the preparation, in contact with rizatriptan, causes that they mutually enhance their effects in the treatment of migraines.

Debretin – side effects

Side effects from the use of Debretin are rare and usually mild. Possible side effects are nausea, fatigue, skin allergic reactions.
