Daylette is used with hormonal contraception. The drug is taken orally. It prevents pregnancy, but its prolonged use may cause unpleasant side effects. We check how Daylette works and when it is absolutely necessary to stop the treatment.

Daylette – the way it works

Due to the content of the two synthetic steroid hormones ethinylestradiol and drospirenone, Daylette may work in several areas, including:

  1. inhibition of ovulation;
  2. changing the properties of the uterine endometrium, as well as mucus;
  3. reducing the peristalsis of the fallopian tubes.

Daylette – contraindications

The main contraindications to the use of Daylette are:

  1. venous or arterial thromboembolic disorders;
  2. severe renal failure;
  3. liver cancer;
  4. pregnancy;
  5. bleeding from the genital tract.

Although Daylette is effective in preventing pregnancy, pregnancy may occur during the use of contraception. In this case, you should stop it immediately, and then go to the gynecologist.

Daylette – precautions

Special precautions when using Daylette should be taken especially in case of circulatory disorders. Hormonal contraception can lead to diseases that directly threaten the health or life of the patient. Therefore, if any of the following symptoms occur, consult a doctor as soon as possible:

  1. swelling of the lower limb;
  2. indigestion;
  3. sudden chest pain;
  4. aphasia;
  5. cough with hemoptysis;
  6. trouble walking;
  7. total or partial numbness.

Daylette – dosage

One Daylette blister contains 24 white active tablets and four green placebo tablets. There is no medication gap between the two blisters. There are arrows on the leaves showing how to dose the tablets. Thanks to this, the patient should not make a mistake when dosing white and green drugs. Application of Daylette it is best to start on the first day of the cycle. Then you do not need to use another method of contraception. If the treatment is started later, another method of contraception should also be used until the end of the first pack.

Daylette – side effects

The most common side effects that may occur during long-term use of Daylette are:

  1. venous / arterial thromboembolic disorders;
  2. hypertension;
  3. hormone-dependent tumors;
  4. chronic liver dysfunction;
  5. chloasma;
  6. hypertrójglicerydemię.

The most common side effects are:

  1. headache and dizziness;
  2. nausea;
  3. breast pain;
  4. mood alteration disorders;
  5. breakthrough bleeding;
  6. sleep disturbance;
  7. amenorrhea;
  8. breast enlargement.

Daylette – price and availability

Daylette is available in stationary pharmacies. You can also buy it online. The price of a package containing 28 tablets is approximately PLN 20. Coated tablets are packed in special blisters. In the packaging outside them, as well as the package leaflet, there is a special case in which the leaves can be stored.
