Data exchange between Excel and Word

Learn how to share Excel data with Word documents and other files.

Insert

More often than not, you will just need to paste static Excel data into a Word document. For this:

  1. Highlight data in Excel.
  2. Right-click and select from the context menu Copy (Copy) or press Ctrl + C.
  3. Open a Word document.
  4. On the Advanced tab Home (Home) press command Insert (Paste) > Paste special (Paste Special).
  5. Select radio button Insert (Paste) and then in the list Как (As) click on a line The format is HTML (HTML Format).
  6. Press OK.

Note: Instead of following steps 4-6, just click Ctrl + V.

  1. Click on the icon in the upper left corner of the table and add borders.

Note: To delete a table, right-click on the icon in the upper left corner of the table, and then click Delete table (Delete Table).

To tie

You can link the original Excel data to the data pasted into Word. If you change the data in Excel, the data in Word will update automatically.

  1. Repeat steps 1 to 4 above.
  2. Click the switch To tie (Paste link). Then select the line The format is HTML (HTML Format).
  3. Press OK.
  4. Click on the icon in the upper left corner of the table and add borders.

Note: In a Word document on the tab File (File) select Intelligence (Info). Then click the button in the lower right corner Change file associations (Edit Links to files) to open the dialog Связи (links). Here you can break the link, change the location of the Excel file, and so on.
