Dangerous diet: what will happen to the body if you sit on potatoes for a week

Popular YouTube blogger Rob Rivera decided to experiment with his body, eating only potatoes for seven days. We tell you what happened to him.

Who among us does not want to lose weight quickly and cheaply, while not bothering with cooking. This is probably why various mono-diets are so popular. For example, the “Kremlin diet”, experts had a lot of work to prove that such a food system is far from safe for the body.

Rob Rivera is popular YouTube bloggerwho loves to experience the effectiveness of various diets and workouts. In the next video, he showed what would happen to the body if you eat only potatoes for a whole week.

At the beginning of the experiment, the blogger made measurements and check weighing. Initial data: waist circumference – 78 cm, and weight – 62 kg.

In order to somehow diversify his diet, Rob bought various types of potatoes from the supermarket: small young, sweet potatoes, or yams, as well as instant potato soups.

Rob decided to consume potatoes without enriching them with any spices, just drinking water. Two days later, the blogger felt unwell, Rob was worried about nausea and dizziness, the young man got out of bed with great difficulty.

After consulting a doctor, the man had to add coffee and tea to the diet in the morning, season the potatoes with salt and pepper, and consume some lettuce leaves and fresh berries. The latter enriched the body with glucose, which is necessary for the brain to function. As a result, the hero’s daily diet was limited to 1000 calories.

Rob steadfastly withstood the diet, despite constant weakness and slight dizziness. At the end of the week, the blogger took measurements again and the result surprised him very much. It turned out that his waist size decreased by 2 cm, and in general, Rob lost 3 kg.

Expert Opinion

What do nutritionists say about this method of losing weight?

Experts believe that this method of losing weight is far from safe, because a monotonous diet can lead to various diseases.

Nutritionist Jenny Jackson of Glasgow Caledonian University1 says:

Eating only vegetables or only meat is not a good idea. Only proteins or only fats will enter the body, and this is not enough for good health.

By itself, potatoes are a dietary product, of course, if you do not add oil when cooking it. In addition, a good starchy vegetable contains a lot of amino acids, protein, vitamins A and E, but this is still not enough for the normal functioning of the body. Rob lost weight not because of the effect of potatoes on the body, but because of a calorie deficit. After all, the blogger’s daily diet did not exceed 1000 calories, as he himself says in the video. For healthy weight loss, this is clearly not enough, it is much more effective to adhere to a proper diet and keep KBZHU under control.

There is no magic weight loss, an experiment conducted by a blogger shows that there is a result, but at what cost? Rob has no strength, he is tormented by constant dizziness and nausea, further adherence to such a low-calorie diet is simply dangerous to health. Nutritionists advise using the potato mono-diet only for fasting days, nothing more.
