Daktarin (powder) is a drug used in dermatology to treat mycoses of the skin, body and head. The active substance is miconazole. The preparation has antifungal and antibacterial properties. Daktarin is available as a powder and is dispensed without a prescription.

Indications for the use of Daktarin powder
The active substance of the preparation is miconazole nitrate. It is given to treat athlete’s foot, groin and diaper rash, usually in combination with a cream.
Daktarin dosage: We apply the powder topically, twice a day for 2-2 weeks, at least 6 days after the disappearance of the lesions. Prophylactically inside shoes and socks: once a day.
Daktarin and contraindications and warnings
Contraindication to the use of Daktarin is hypersensitivity to any component of the preparation, miconazole, imidazole derivatives or any of the excipients of the drug. Do not use the drug in the case of fungal infections of the scalp, mucous membranes, nails and damaged skin.
Daktarin – warnings
- Daktarin powder should be discontinued in the event of skin irritation or allergic reaction.
- Protect the eyes from contact with Daktarin.
- It is necessary to take care of the hygiene of places which are the source of infection. Avoid inhaling the powder. For this reason, the preparation should be used with particular caution when treating infants and children.
- Daktarin may be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding only after consulting a doctor.
- The active substance of the drug, miconazole, may pass into breast milk.
Daktarin and other drugs
Caution should be exercised in patients taking oral anticoagulants (e.g. warfarin), phenytoin or oral medicines to lower blood glucose (sugar) levels; Daktarin may increase the side effects associated with the use of these drugs.
Daktarin – side effects
Daktarin powder is usually well tolerated. Hypersensitivity (allergic) reactions may occur: rash, erythema, itching, skin tingling, irritation. Very rarely, severe anaphylactic reactions and angioedema.
