Dairy products in the nutrition of children are a strategically important element. They help babies grow strong, agile and full of energy. Their choice should be approached wisely, because the health of the child is above all.
Kefir Focus
The child’s body best absorbs protein from fermented milk products, such as kefir. At the same time, it is important to take into account that it contains “heavy” casein and mineral salts, which a baby up to 9 months does not need. If the child does not tolerate kefir, you can resort to tricks and offer him a smoothie. Cut a ripe banana into circles and fill it with 500 ml of kefir of 2.5% fat content in the bowl of a blender. Add 1 tbsp. l. liquid honey, 1 tsp. lemon juice and whisk all the ingredients into a homogeneous mass. Even the most capricious will not refuse such a cocktail.
Let there be cottage cheese!
Cottage cheese is an essential baby milk product. Of course, if it has a delicate structure, proper acidity and does not contain harmful additives. It is easy to prepare such cottage cheese at home. Preheat 1 liter of milk to 22-24 °C, pour in 50 ml of kefir sourdough, stir thoroughly, cover with a lid and leave at room temperature overnight. By morning, a dense clot will appear in the milk. Put it in a container in a water bath and, stirring constantly, stand for 30 minutes. Now it remains to hang the cottage cheese in cheesecloth to drain the whey. Little gourmets will appreciate your efforts, especially if you add apple slices or fresh berries to the curd.
Pristine yogurt
As you know, not all yogurts for children are equally useful. The range offered today is sometimes amazing. But for precious children, it is better to choose natural yogurt without additives or cook it at home. Heat 1 liter of milk with a fat content of 3.2 % to 30-35 °C, stir in it 1 tbsp. l. sour cream and pour into a jar without a lid. We put the open jar in a saucepan, carefully fill it with hot water, cover it with a lid and wrap it with a terry towel. After 6-8 hours, feel free to start tasting the freshest yogurt. Sweeteners can mix it with jam or dried fruits.
Forever with oatmeal
Is it possible for children to have animal milk? You can and should, if they do not have allergies in the form of rashes or stomach problems. The daily norm of milk for children under 3 years is 150-200 ml. It can be given in its pure form, and even better-to cook delicious porridge. To do this, it is most convenient to use a slow cooker. Pour 160 g of hercules flakes, grated apple and a handful of raisins into a bowl. Pour in 3 multi-cups of milk, select the “Porridge” mode and set the timer for 25 minutes. For kids, you can beat the oatmeal with a blender — so they will take it more willingly. And for older gourmets, you can add butter, peach slices and nuts to it.
Milk sea in a plate
Milk soups are recommended to be included in the child’s diet starting from the year. This is a great way to diversify your diet and instill a love for dairy products. Cut into strips 30 g of carrots, pour 2 tbsp. l. water, put the butter on the tip of a knife and simmer until softened. Fill the carrots with 100 ml of water, put 5-6 inflorescences of cauliflower and potatoes in cubes. Cover the pan with a lid and cook the vegetables for 20 minutes. At the very end, pour in ½ cup of warmed milk, bring to a boil and remove the soup from the heat. It is best to serve it with lightly dried bread toast.
Vegetables in egg clouds
Dairy products are ideal for breakfast. In combination with eggs, their benefits know no bounds. Protein gives you a feeling of fullness, and polyunsaturated fatty acids give you energy. The omelet embodies all these qualities. It can be prepared for children starting from the year. Beat 2 eggs with 150 ml of low-fat milk, 1 tbsp. l. oat flour and pour the mixture into a preheated frying pan with butter. When it grabs, we spread the slices of sweet pepper and fold the omelet in half, like a book. Cover the pan with a lid and simmer for 5-7 minutes. Light decor will help to awaken the child’s appetite. To do this, lay out a pattern of peas and tomato circles on the omelet.
Home cheese factory
Cheese is a wonderful dairy product for children. It is better to start getting acquainted with it with home varieties. Mix 1 kg of cottage cheese with 1 liter of milk and, gently stirring, bring to a boil. Remove the mixture from the stove and squeeze the resulting clot through cheesecloth. Combine 200 g of melted butter with 2 beaten egg yolks, heated in a water bath. Add the curd clot and, stirring frequently, simmer for 10 minutes. When the cheese mass begins to move away from the walls, we put it in a mold, cool it and put it in the refrigerator for 4 hours. Then we wrap it with parchment paper, cool it for 12 hours, but already under the yoke. Then we remove the pressure and let the cheese ripen for another day. This delicacy will appeal not only to children, but also to adults.
