Poland is the first in the world to have an effective drug against COVID-19. «We have a drug, the effectiveness of which has been confirmed by prof. Perć from the Jagiellonian University. He conducted the world’s first such study on a virus strain. Our wildest expectations were surpassed by the fact that even at dilutions of 1: 5000 our drug was effective. What we knew from the administration of plasma for six months has been confirmed in laboratory conditions by the Jagiellonian University »- said Grzegorz Czelej, PhD, co-author of the concept of the drug for COVID-19, in Onet Rano
“The question will be of the dosage of the drug, not whether it will be effective or not”
“But the effectiveness of the drug still needs to be confirmed in clinical trials” – reminded Iwona Kutyna at Onet Rano.
– Many new drugs are lost in clinical trials. The active substance in this case is antibodies and we have been consenting to such treatment for half a year. Plasma has been successfully administered to thousands of patients. So we are not dealing here with what is usually done in clinical trials. We have been giving blood to patients for decades and this does not carry the risks that are usually posed by new drugs. The question will be the dosage of this drug and not whether it will be effective or not – explained Dr. Grzegorz Czelej.
