Czech Dark Lager

The Czech dark lager is a cross between tmavý ležák and tmavé speciální pivo. It has existed since 1499 and is still produced in Czech craft breweries.

Characteristic features of the style: high density, rich color, complex malt flavor, obvious “roasty” notes in the bouquet. The hop profile comes in varying degrees of severity, ranging from low to medium.

The aroma is sweet-malty, with notes of bread, caramel, nuts, licorice, dried fruit, cola. Possible nuances of chocolate, coffee, spices. Weak fruity notes do not contradict the style standards.

The color varies from red-copper to dark brown, in the glass the drink forms a stable dark foam.

It has a creamy texture, in the mouth it feels rounded, soft. With a high fortress, the fortress is slightly felt, it warms well in cold weather.

It is made on the basis of Pils malt with the addition of caramel, the use of Vienna or Munich varieties is also acceptable. Low-mineralized water is required, Zatec hops, lager yeast of Czech origin.

The style is similar to the Munich Dunkel and Schwarzbier, but with a more pronounced taste.
