Cutivate ointment is a drug used to treat itching and skin conditions. It is one of the most popular medicinal products used in dermatology. Cutivate ointment and cream differ in concentration.

Composition

The main ingredient of the ointment / cream is fluticasone propionate (fluticasoni propionas).

Indications

Cutivate ointment and Cutivate cream are used in the treatment of inflammatory lesions and itching in skin diseases responding to corticosteroid treatment: lupus erythematosus – skin form – as adjunctive treatment, psoriasis, eczema, contact eczema, lichen planus, seborrheic dermatitis – as adjunctive treatment, large insect bite reactions, nodular scabies, limited scabies. The agent is also used in erythroderma as a limited local treatment supporting general corticotherapy.

Action

Cutivate ointment (Cutivate cream) is a topical glucocorticosteroid with a strong anti-inflammatory effect and a slight anti-hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal-blocking effect. It shows a greater therapeutic index in contrast to other topical corticosteroid preparations. During the use of the preparation, no significant hormonal disorders or side effects from the circulatory system, peripheral and central nervous system, gastrointestinal tract and respiratory system were observed.

Contraindications

Contraindications include, first of all, hypersensitivity to fluticasone propionate or any of the excipients of the preparation, rosacea, acne vulgaris, dermatitis around the mouth, itching around the anus and genitals, skin infection caused by viruses (e.g. herpes simplex, chicken pox), skin caused by bacteria or fungi, skin diseases in children under 1 year of age, with inflammatory lesions and diaper rash.

Dosage

Externally, locally. Cutivate ointment (Cutivate cream) is intended for patients over 1 year of age. Apply and spread the preparation on the affected skin area. Use twice a day. When used as recommended, the drug does not affect psychomotor performance, the ability to drive vehicles and operate machinery. When using the preparation on the eyelids, special care should be taken because the contact of the drug with the eyeball is associated with the risk of irritation or an attack of glaucoma.

The price of Cutivate ointment (Cutivate cream) ranges from PLN 8,04 to PLN 10,29 for a 15 g tube. The drug is available without a prescription.
