The dream of beautiful and healthy nails can come true, because it only takes a little time, attention and knowledge of some tricks to fulfill it. It is not at all necessary to visit beauty parlors or beauty salons to create a flawless manicure, learn how to treat cuticles at home.

The cuticle is a thin, leathery cushion that surrounds part of the nail plate. It plays a very important role: the cuticle does not allow foreign bodies and bacteria to penetrate to the growth area of the nail. Improper removal or care, as well as damage to it, can lead to inflammation, the appearance of painful burrs and damage to the nail plate. If the cuticle is not removed at all, then its keratinous part grows over time and prevents the growth of nails, flakes and cracks, gives female hands an unkempt and untidy look.

Remember: only the dead part of the cuticle is subject to removal!

There are two main ways to treat cuticles: European and classic. In the first case, keratinized cells are softened and melted by chemicals in the form of fruit acids, alkali. The classic, or trim, method is the removal of the cuticle using a properly selected manicure cutting tool.

Manicurists believe that it is possible to remove cuticles at home with the highest quality and the safest possible only with the help of the European method. The classic method requires skill, it is unsafe and rude

So, to remove the stratum corneum at the base of the nail using the European method, you will need a special cuticle softener. They come in the form of hard sticks, gel formulations, or creams. Give preference to a product that contains gentle fruit acids. Wash your hands thoroughly and pat dry with a soft cloth. Apply to cuticles and let sit for five to seven minutes. Then, using a wooden orange stick or rubber-tipped spatula, slide the cuticle towards the base of the nail. Finish with oil or emollient cream.

If you are still a fan of the classic edged manicure, then start with a selection of tools that should be made of high-quality medical steel. Disinfect them before using. Pour warm soapy water into the bath and lower your hands, steam the skin for ten minutes. Blot your hands with a napkin and slide the cuticle with a special wooden stick (or spatula). The next step is to trim the cuticle. First, the skin on the sides of the nail plate is cut with a fork or tweezers, and then the cuticle is cut off in an arc with scissors. Finally, apply an emollient cream to the cuticle and massage in in a circular motion.
