The Woman’s Day editorial team asked the question: is it possible to extend the life of a manicure by 2-3 weeks?
Mavala, cuticle oil, 499 rubles
– Nail oil is the kind of care that every woman should have. Most manicure specialists believe that women need to give up trimmed manicure. “If you don’t cut it, it doesn’t grow,” I hear from 80% of beauty salon workers. I completely agree: with regular use of the oil, the life of a manicure can be extended by 2-3 weeks.
Expectations: my experiment lasted 2 weeks and 4 days. I did an edged, short manicure, using two oils every day: one at work during the day, the other at home.
Reality: first about the first. The Mavala brand has long attracted me with its nail products. By the way, the cuticle pencil has been my faithful assistant for several years. Mavala Cuticle Oil contains vegetable, olive and almond oils that give the product an unreal scent. A bottle with a brush is convenient to use at work: opened, applied, massaged fingers.
The oil perfectly prevents the build-up of cuticles on the nails and is very economical to use. By the way, even if you don’t rub the oil, it is absorbed in 2 minutes!
Rating: 10 from 10… A wonderful oil for every day.
OPI, Avoplex, nail and cuticle oil, 524 rubles
Reality: lipid complex of avocado, antioxidant vitamin E, oil of sunflower, sesame and seeds of the tropical kukui tree – as you can imagine, the aroma of this product is unreal. The convenient tube for carrying in a bag is not the only advantage of Avoplex: the oil is applied to the cuticles with the help of an applicator brush!
This alone makes the product indispensable in every woman’s purse. OPI Cuticle Oil is evenly applied and absorbed in minutes.
Rating: 10 of 10 points. A tube of OPI oil has now settled in my bags for a long time. How can you refuse such a convenient product?
L’Occitane, Shea Nourishing Oil for Nails and Cuticles, 1150 rubles
– The best oil for nails and cuticles I managed to find thanks to our traditional rubric “Wday tests”. I have never paid much attention to this product. Once such oil was in my bins, probably for two years. Of course, I am aware of its benefits with all responsibility, but somehow it does not work out to force myself to use it regularly. In general, I decided to correct this oversight. Yet cuticle oil is an extremely useful and functional thing.
Expectations: from cuticle oil, I expect, first of all, good hydration and nutrition. After regular use, the cuticles, and indeed the fingers in general, should look perfectly well-groomed. In addition, the best nail and cuticle oil must have a pleasant scent and be absorbed quickly.
Reality: L’Occitane’s nourishing shea butter for nails and cuticles has a good, almost completely natural composition. Key Ingredients: Almond Oil, Shea Butter, Grape Seed Oil, and Castor Oil. The product comes in a very convenient package with an applicator brush, which makes it indispensable for travel. Pros: absorbs quickly and moisturizes the cuticle well. Unfortunately, there was also a minus: I absolutely did not like the aroma of the product. For my taste, it smells like some kind of soap, in fact, like the entire Shea line. I prefer the more natural aromas of essential oils.
Rating: 8 out of 10. I take off two balls for an unpleasant aroma, but this, as usual, is a matter of taste.
Anny, regenerating oil for nails and cuticles, 560 rubles (Ile de Beaute)
Reality: this Anny cuticle oil has become my favorite! The product is applied with a pipette and rubbed in with massage movements. It is absorbed, of course, not at lightning speed, but the aroma and effectiveness amazed me. By the way, after a week of using all three oils (L’Occitane, Anny and Organic Shop), the appearance of my cuticle has improved significantly. The skin around the nail plate stopped drying and peeling, and the manicure began to look much neater.
Rating: 10 out of 10. The oil smells very nice of lemon and perfectly nourishes the skin.
Organic Shop, Macadamis & Cocoa cuticle oil, 229 rubles
Reality: There are three points that I especially liked about this product: price, volume and composition. Organic Shop cuticle oil comes in a large glass bottle of 30 milliliters, and its price is just over 200 rubles. At the same time, the ingredients in the composition are entirely natural: macadamia oil, olive oil, sunflower oil and cocoa butter. It moisturizes and nourishes better than my two previous “test subjects”. True, the product is very greasy and is not completely absorbed, you have to wipe your fingers with a napkin. In my opinion, Organic Shop cuticle oil is ideal for home use.
Rating: 9 out of 10. Minus point for inconvenient pipette and excessive fat content.
Sally Hansen, nail and cuticle oil with vitamin E, 530 rubles
– Due to the modern rhythm of life, it is not always possible to visit a master in a salon, but you want to keep your hands and nails in order all the time. Therefore, I try to do all kinds of care procedures at home. One of these procedures is the regular use of a product to effectively nourish nails and cuticles. I met the American brand Sally Hansen several years ago and now I try to trust the beauty of my hands and nails only to this brand.
Expectation: I would like to find the perfect oil that, along with other beauty products, could nourish and heal nails and soften the cuticles. In general, I dreamed of getting the effect of salon care at home!
Reality: the manufacturers promised that this oil is ideal for brittle nails that often break. The oil, which contains many natural products and vitamin E, perfectly moisturizes, nourishes, softens the cuticles, and also cares for brittle nails. I used the product twice a day for a week – rubbed it into my nails in the morning and in the evening. It can then be used as needed to maintain healthy nails.
By the way, after a week of use, I noticed that the nails began to look perfect, stopped breaking, began to grow much faster, the hangnails disappeared, and the cuticle became soft and got a healthy look. In general, I am happy with my choice of a beauty product!
Evaluation: 10 of 10. When there is no time to do a salon manicure, this oil always saves me.
Yves-Rocher vegetable oil-elixir for nails, 389 rubles
– Probably every girl who regularly does manicure knows that after a week the aesthetic appearance of the nails is not the same. The cuticles begin to dry out and crack. However, there is a way to prolong the beauty. Nail oil is a great helper in this matter. I have long wanted to have this in my arsenal, but my hands somehow did not reach to buy, but in vain.
Expectations: before I started using it, I already knew that I would love this tool. Among friends there are people who understand such things and have repeatedly advised to buy oil for nails. So I knew what I was going for. It’s nice that all the expectations and good recommendations came true.
Reality: I did not use the oil every day, but the effect is still amazing. Cuticles look like fresh manicure. Note that the oil takes care not only of the cuticles, but also of the nails. After regular use, your nails will become stronger and harder.
A big plus is that the product is quickly absorbed into the skin, and the practical applicator provides a gentle and precise effect on the cuticle.
Evaluation: as I thought, the oil does its job well. I will continue to use it further. For a beautiful and durable manicure I give 10 points.
