Cute pugs: 16 breeds of the smallest dogs

Big dogs are nice, of course, but just look at these little ones.

All dogs are wonderful: small or not so, meek or mischievous, and even those that shed or drool. But not everyone dares to have large breeds. Someone lives in a small apartment, where there is hardly a place for a large dog. Someone spends the whole day at work and does not want to spend free time on training, and someone, maybe, just wants his pet to always fit on his lap.

However, miniature dogs were not only bred for hugs. For example, small terriers were specially taken to hunt so that they got animals out of their holes. And some royals even used small dogs as live mittens. That is, they took them in their arms to keep warm.

But still, it should not be denied that miniature dogs, no matter how adults they are, always seem to be puppies in size, and this is insanely bribing. Don’t believe me? Here are 16 pieces of evidence.

According to the American Kennel Club, yorkshire terriers recognized as one of the smallest dogs. On average, their height does not exceed 20-25 cm, and their weight ranges from 2 to 3 kg. It is not surprising that these babies, able to travel almost in a wallet, at one point became a favorite “accessory” of celebrities.

Even smaller in size are considered chihuahua growing from 13 to 23 cm and weighing up to 3 kg. These crumbs were also not deprived of the attention of celebrities. Just remember Tinkerbell, the tailed companion of Paris Hilton. Unfortunately, in 2015 the dog was gone.

Continues the miniature breed marathon schipperke, or “little captain”, as they like to call these dogs. Adults do not grow taller than 30 cm, but weigh from 3 to 9 kg.

Modern Dog magazine named italian greyhound “Lightweight version” of the usual. And if the latter in weight can be equal to that of an adult, then its reduced copy is several times smaller in build: the height is about 30 cm, and the weight is not more than 8 kg. Kylie Jenner and YouTube blogger Jenna Marbles were not indifferent to Italian greyhounds.

For fans of massive English Bulldogs, there is good news, more precisely, a more miniature version – French Bulldog… They are similar in size to Yorkies or Chihuahuas, and weigh less than relatives from Foggy Albion. While the weight of the English Bulldog can reach 23 kg, the French is gaining half that.

According to the Kennel Club of America, there are three types of poodles: toy, miniature, and standard. The latter, more than 40 cm tall, are considered the largest in the breed. Despite the name, miniature poodles are not the smallest of the three, and they weigh between 5 and 7 kg. Crumbs are considered he-poodles, their weight does not exceed 4,5 kg.
