Currant tincture: 9 recipes at home

If you have a lot of currants, and not much free time, try making simple, but no less tasty berry tinctures. Of course, you will have to tinker a little during the initial preparation of the berries (they will need to be sorted out, discarding all rotten and moldy, and also freeing them from plant excesses such as ridges and cuttings), but then, nature will do almost everything herself.

Basic blackcurrant recipe

In fact, this is a classic that is recommended for beginners to start with. Berries for a drink can be taken both fresh and frozen (of course, after defrosting it). At the same time, if you want fresh currants to get natural sweetness, it should be slightly frozen before infusion.

Ingredients

  1. Black currant – 1 kg

  2. Vodka or 45-degree alcohol – 1 l (how to dilute)

  3. Sugar – 100-250 g

Method of preparation

  1. Transfer the washed currants to the jar.

  2. Mix alcohol with sugar and add to the berry.

  3. Shake the tightly closed jar and put in a cool dark place for a couple of weeks.

  4. Drain the tincture, filter through a dense filter and bottle.

  5. Leave the drink in a cool dark place for another 2-4 weeks for final maturation.

Red or white currant tincture

Red, and even more so white varieties of the berries we are interested in are rather inexpressive. But for tincture, in a certain scenario, they are more than suitable.

Ingredients

  1. White or red currant – 300 g

  2. Vodka / moonshine / diluted alcohol – 500 ml

  3. Sugars – 100 g

  4. Orange peel – 10 g

Method of preparation

  1. Put the prepared berry in a jar, add the zest, cover with sugar and pour alcohol.

  2. Close the container tightly, shake it up and send it to a dark, cool place for 2 weeks (during this time, the drink must be shaken well every 3-4 days).

  3. The result is filtered, bottled, then either immediately offered to guests or corked and sent for storage in the cellar.

Polish redcurrant tincture on bison

The name of the drink speaks for itself.

Ingredients

  1. Red currant – 200 g

  2. Zubrovka – 500 ml

  3. Sugars – 100 g

Method of preparation

  1. Put the berry in a jar, cover with sugar, crush with a crush and pour bison.

  2. Then proceed according to the previous recipe.

Blackcurrant tincture in English

As you may have guessed, we will talk about tincture on gin. In this case, it is advisable to use simple solid drinks, like Gordons or Tanqueray. Homemade juniper is also perfect.

Ingredients

  1. Black currant – 1 kg

  2. Gin – 750 ml

  3. Powdered Sugar – 30 g

  4. Lemon peel – 5 g

A simple quick tincture on pureed berries

If there is a can or two of berry spins left from last summer, they can also be a help in preparing a very pleasant drink.

Ingredients

  1. Pureed black currant – 300 g

  2. Pureed raspberries – 100 g

  3. Vodka / moonshine / water-alcohol solution – 600 ml

Method of preparation

  1. Mix the berries, put in a jar and pour alcohol.

  2. Close the container tightly, shake well and leave in a dark, cool room for 3-4 days.

  3. Carefully filter the drink and drag it to the table.

Tincture on currant buds

Consider this simple recipe a kind of bonus.

Ingredients

  1. Unblown currant buds – 1 handful

  2. Vodka – 500 ml

Method of preparation

  1. Pour vodka over freshly picked lightly washed kidneys.

  2. Infuse for 5-7 days (if the drink seems too vigorous, dilute it with vodka).

  3. The result is filtered and bottled.

  4. Store no longer than two weeks. When the color of an emerald drink turns brown, this is a sure sign of its unsuitability (of course, you can drink it, but only for the sake of drunkenness).

Grape tincture with red currant

Ingredients

  1. Alcohol – 1 l

  2. Water – 500 ml

  3. Grapes – 1 kg

  4. Red currant berries – 500 g

  5. Sugars – 500 g

Method of preparation

  1. Mash clean, dry and sorted grapes and red currants well, transfer to a large glass container, pour alcohol on top.

  2. Close the container with a lid, insist in a dark place for 14-15 days.

  3. Well decant the tincture, filter.

  4. Prepare sugar syrup and strain hot.

  5. Allow to cool, combine with tincture, shake and pour into bottles for storage.

  6. Cork, keep until use in a cold dark place for 120-130 days.

Currant juice tincture

Ingredients

  1. Alcohol – 1 liter of alcohol

  2. Fresh juice of any currant (can be a mixture) – 3 l

  3. Sugar – 2,5 kg

Method of preparation

  1. Pour currant juice into a large container, add sugar and heat over low heat, stirring, until completely dissolved.

  2. Add alcohol, mix, leave covered for 10 days at room temperature.

  3. Drain the infusion, filter well and pour into dry bottles, close tightly.

Tincture on currant leaves

Ingredients

  1. Fresh green blackcurrant leaves – 45–60 g

  2. Vodka – 1 l

Method of preparation

  1. Place clean leaves in a bottle, pour vodka and insist in a dark place.

  2. After 5–7 days, strain through 4–5 layers of gauze, pour into a bottle and let stand.

  3. Filter again after 1-2 days.
