Cumbria orchid: care, reproduction
The Cambria Orchid is a hybrid variety with flowers of different colors. If you want to grow this flower at home, learn how to propagate and care for it correctly.
Reproduction of the Cumbria orchid
Reproduction of Cumbria at home is carried out only by dividing the bush. Perform this procedure when transplanting an adult plant. Carefully separate the pseudobulb from the main plant. Take care not to damage the roots. An orchid is a painful flower, so treat all sections at once with crushed activated carbon.
Plant the new plant in a separate pot. During the first week, do not water or feed the seedling, do not move the pot with it. For rooting, the seedling needs complete rest. Then take care of the young plant as an adult.
Here are the basic guidelines for caring for Cambria:
- The lighting for the orchid should be good, but the leaves should not be exposed to direct sunlight. In winter, illuminate the plant with a phytolamp so that it receives up to 10-12 hours of light.
- The optimum temperature for a flower is 16-21 ° C. Make sure the temperature does not drop below 14 ° C in winter.
- This orchid variety is undemanding to air humidity. Additionally, humidify the air only if the flower pot is close to the heaters.
- Water the plant abundantly while the pseudobulb is forming. After finishing this process, sharply reduce watering to a minimum of 3 weeks. After that, water the orchid in moderation. The average frequency of watering during this time is once a week on hot days and once every two weeks on cooler days.
- Fertilize the plant with a special orchid feed 1-2 times a month. This variety has delicate roots, so reduce the fertilizer concentration by half that indicated on the package.
- Repot the flower every 2-3 years. Follow this procedure if the substrate is caked or salted, or if the roots begin to bulge out of the pot.
Sometimes Cambria suffers from fungal and bacterial diseases. The fungus develops due to an excess of moisture, and the bacteria are carried by insect pests. If any disease is found, isolate the plant, normalize its care and treat it with purchased products.
Cambria is an artificially bred orchid variety that cannot be found in nature. But at home in pots of amateur flower growers, it is often found. This type of orchid sets its own requirements for care.
