Cucumbers in America: why can’t you eat them?

Yet Western products are not always better than ours.

Without such a vegetable as a cucumber, it is impossible to imagine any Russian feast. We love and use cucumbers in completely different forms: fresh, salted, lightly salted. But how they relate to this vegetable in America and why it is impossible to eat it there, we decided to find out.

Recently, a Russian-speaking blogger named Lera, who lives in the United States and actively talks about life there, showed on her TikTok what cucumbers actually look like in the States. The user of the TikTok network under the nickname @americanprincessss went to the nearest supermarket to show the real size of local cucumbers, and at the same time noted several points at which they lose to the Russian ones.

As Lera showed, the size of the vegetable was really impressive. For comparison, the blogger even put it to her head, and the cucumber, which looks more like zucchini, turned out to be much larger. Tiktokersha also noted that it was she who took not the largest vegetable from the counter.

The blogger also boldly noticed the taste component of the fruit, saying that it was “water in the skin”. In fairness, it should be noted that such cucumbers (albeit not of this size) can also be seen on the shelves of Russian stores, but you can also buy delicious greenhouse vegetables from us. In America, this is not so good. You can hardly find tasty cucumbers there. Perhaps this is due to the fact that Americans are not so big fans of fresh cucumbers, preferring pickled ones.

Many in the comments under the video agreed with Leroy that some vegetables overseas are completely tasteless and watery. Therefore, many Russians have to go to Russian stores to buy “sweets” or wait for another trip to Russia to visit their relatives and eat delicious vegetables here.
