Cucumber Rodnichok F1

It is hard to imagine a hostess who does not allocate at least a small piece of the garden for cucumbers. More often they occupy a solid area, freely spreading their whips on the ground or raised on a trellis. If there is a greenhouse on the site, then the same cucumbers will be its indispensable inhabitants. Cucumber Rodnichok f1 is a variety to which we will certainly return, having tried many new products. And although Rodnichok is a hybrid of an old, still Soviet selection, even the most modern varieties cannot compete with it in terms of taste, yield and disease resistance.

Variety description

Cucumber variety Rodnichok is a mid-season variety pollinated by bees; the first crop is harvested 50-55 days after germination, starting in the second half of June. The main harvest is at the end of summer. You can grow cucumbers of the Rodnichok variety both in open ground and under a film or in a greenhouse. Scourges are long, reach 3 m in length, slightly branched.

This variety has a light green fruit weighing 90-110 g on the sides has white stripes and rare black spikes. A characteristic feature of Rodnichok cucumbers is that its fruits are even, about the same size, 9-12 cm long. Commodity characteristics are very high, cucumbers are tasty, crispy, not bitter. They do not turn brown for a long time, easily tolerate transportation and rarely get sick. The yield of Rodnichok cucumbers in open ground is 5-7 kg per square, in a greenhouse where they grow on a trellis – 17-25 kg.

The description of the variety will be incomplete if we do not note that Rodnichok cucumbers are invariably in high consumer demand and are among the most expensive in our markets. The undoubted advantages of Rodnichok cucumbers include:

  • Grows both in open and closed ground;
  • Suitable for canning, for salads;
  • High taste qualities;
  • Excellent transportability;
  • Attractive appearance;
  • Lack of bitterness;
  • Disease resistance;
  • Duration of storage without loss of taste and commercial properties.

In addition, if you grow Rodnichok cucumbers for sale, there is no need to calibrate them – they grow even, beautiful and almost the same size.

There are no shortcomings in the variety, in our opinion.

Care for cucumbers

All cucumbers, including the Rodnichok F1 variety, prefer:

  • Well-drained, well-manured neutral soils;
  • Frequent watering with warm water;
  • Moist, warm content;
  • weekly top dressing;
  • Good lighting.

What you can not do:

  • transfer from place to place;
  • Plant in acidic dense soil;
  • Water with cold water;
  • Plant in an area that is not protected from the wind;
  • Leave when it gets cold without shelter;
  • Weeding with a stick.

Caring for cucumbers of the Rodnichok variety may seem somewhat tedious, but without it it is impossible to achieve high yields.

Seed preparation

If cucumber seeds are covered with a colored shell, they cannot be soaked or heated – this will damage the shell. Even if there is no shell, the Rodnichok variety does not need long-term heating – in this variety, almost all seeds are female. They are heated before planting for a short time only to destroy possible pathogens, and then soaked for swelling or germination.

Rules of landing

If you plant cucumbers of the Rodnichok variety in greenhouses, take loose, well-manured soil for growing, add additional ash. In open ground, you must first prepare the site – dig it up, select all the pebbles, weed roots, add well-rotted humus of cattle. If necessary, add dolmite flour under the dig or directly into the holes.

The holes can be arranged in a square-nested manner at a distance of approximately 30×30 cm, if the lashes of cucumbers lie on the ground or in a line at a distance of about 15 cm from each other, when grown on a trellis.

If you are a resident of a region with a cold climate and are forced to grow Rodnichok cucumbers through seedlings in order to get a crop, do not forget that they do not like transplants. Immediately plant the seeds in peat tablets or take a container from which the seedlings are easy to get without disturbing the roots. This video will help you:

Plant 2-3 seeds of Rodnichok cucumber in each hole, deepening them by one and a half to two centimeters. Plentifully and carefully, so as not to wash the seeds, pour the planting with warm water from a watering can, cover them with a covering material.

Important! The planting site, and subsequently the seedlings, must be regularly ventilated and watered to prevent even a short-term drying of the soil.

Usually shoots of cucumber Rodnichok appear very quickly, 2-4 days after planting.

Watering and top dressing

In Rodnichok cucumbers, however, like all cucumbers, the ratio of nitrogen: phosphorus: potassium needs is 34:13:53. This means that the plant loves potassium and must either be supplemented with ash or fed with special fertilizers for cucumbers, where the manufacturer has already taken care of the necessary balance of nutrients.

Cucumbers are very fond of fresh manure, but you can only give it infusion. It is prepared simply – dissolve about a liter jar of fresh manure in a bucket of water, let it ferment for 10-14 days, mix with water in a ratio of 1:10.

Watering cucumbers should be frequent, plentiful and done only with warm, preferably soft water. But overdoing it with watering is also dangerous – if the water constantly stands at the roots, they can rot. This most often happens on poorly drained soils or in cool weather.

Attention! When it gets cold, reduce watering, and if you still need to moisten the soil, do it in the morning.

We grow cucumbers for sale, no matter how many varieties we have tried, we still return to Rodnichka, it has no equal in taste and yield. Yes, and cucumbers grow even, one to one, there is no waste.

I thought that Rodnichok is the most difficult variety to grow. But then we bought a summer house, bought a bag, tried it. The rest of the varieties (and I bought several varieties of them) both get sick, and some are twisted, and the Rodnichok variety – at least send it to the exhibition, and there are a lot of ovaries. And they ate and preserved. Now I will buy other varieties only for pollination.
