The variety went on sale in the Federation back in 2003 and immediately won the hearts of lovers of crispy cucumbers. The fruits appear already on the 35-40th day from the first shoots, without requiring pollination, so the Goosebump variety can be grown in spring in heated greenhouses. The plant is indeterminate, grows medium in size, with a small number of branches, which, on the contrary, are determinate, with a predominance of female flowers.
Cucumber bushes of the hybrid variety Goosebumps have an abundant amount of smooth, medium-sized leaves. On average, 2-4 ovaries of future cucumbers are formed in the sinus, there are no barren flowers. A pleasant property of this variety of cucumbers is long-term fruiting, so flowers and ripe fruits can be observed on the bushes at the same time.
This hybrid variety of goosebumps is resistant to most common diseases – powdery mildew and cladosporiosis. Watch out for root rot and downy mildew. The photograph on the packaging rarely differs from the finished product. The Goosebump cucumber itself is medium in size, does not exceed 12 cm, weighing about 100 grams, but can be harvested as gherkins when they reach 8-10 cm in length. Cucumbers have a cylindrical shape, pronounced tubercles and prickly black spikes. The color is green, brightens from the base to the tip, light stripes are visible that do not reach the end of the cucumber. The peel is thin, the pulp is crispy without bitterness. Cucumber variety Goosebump F1 is versatile in use, great for pickling and pickling for the winter and eating in salads.
Cultivation
In order for the harvest to please with its result, it is necessary to study the description of the variety and the secrets of cultivation. To sow the seeds of this variety of cucumbers directly into the soil, it is necessary to wait for complete warming and warming up of the earth to a depth of at least 12-15 cm. Before planting, the seeds should be treated with potassium permanganate (5 g per half liter of water) and soak for 12-20 hours. For growing seedlings of the hybrid variety Murashka, the actions with seeds are the same.
After all the manipulations, in order for the sprouts to hatch, it is necessary to put the cucumber seeds on a wet cloth and maintain moisture at a temperature not lower than 25 ° C. As soon as the seeds of Goosebump cucumbers hatch, they should be moved to the prepared soil, consisting of equal parts of soddy soil and humus. It is necessary to add a glass of wood ash to a bucket of such a mixture and fill individual cups for 2/3 of the total volume, make sure that there are drainage holes.
Cucumber seed should be placed to a depth of 1 cm in a well-moistened mixture. Put in a large box, on the bottom of which you need to pour a small layer of earth, cover with glass or film and put in a sunny place.
Goosebump cucumber seeds germinate slowly, do not worry if they have not appeared for 2-2,5 weeks. At the first manifestations of sprouts, it is worth removing the film and lowering the temperature to avoid stretching the stem.
Fertilizing seedlings of Goosebump cucumbers can be done with mullein (1 liter diluted with 10 liters of water, after which 1 liter of the resulting solution is poured back into 10 liters of water).
When two true leaves appear, cucumber seedlings can be planted in open ground, preferably in late April, early May. 1 m2 2-3 bushes are planted, the result is 10-12 kg of the finished product. The soil for cucumbers of the Goosebump hybrid variety should be well fertilized, preferably in the fall, distribute 2 buckets of humus per 1 m2. Potatoes and a variety of aromatic herbs should not be nearby, with the exception of dill. You should choose the south side for the full supply of sunlight to the cucumber bush.
When sown in greenhouses, the principle of seed preparation of this Goosebump F1 hybrid variety remains the same, but until a stable high temperature sets in, it is necessary to maintain heat and humidity at the proper level. When applied in a square-nest way (staggered), holes should be made at a distance of 70 cm, and 8-10 cucumber seeds should be placed in each hole, having previously fertilized it. After germination, no more than three bushes of this variety are left, with the help of a support they are evenly distributed so as not to form a large density. If sowing is done in rows, goosebump seeds are placed in the soil to a depth of 3-4 cm, at a distance of 5 cm from each other, for further possibility of removing weak sprouts. You need to thin out regularly until 1 cucumber bushes remain per 5 linear meter. In order for the crop of the Murashka hybrid variety to surprise with the abundance of fruits, it is necessary to pinch the main stem of the bush after 6 leaves, and the side stems at a distance of 40 cm from the trunk.
The temperature during active growth should not fall below 25 ° C, otherwise the roots of the plant may suffer and the bush will start to hurt. Considering that Goosebump F1 cucumbers actively grow at night, watering is also desirable to carry out in the dark. The amount of water is based on 20 liters per 1 m2to maintain the required humidity. During flowering, it is worth watering carefully to avoid getting moisture on the bush. For better penetration of oxygen into the soil, loosening is necessary after each watering.
Fertilize at least three times:
- Fertilizer with manure, in the ratio, as for seedlings. The color should be like weak tea.
- In the previous fertilizer add 1 tbsp. l. nitroammophoska or superphosphate and distribute 1 liter under each bush. A prerequisite is watering the seedlings before feeding.
- With the help of ash (1 cup per bucket of water), fertilize just before the fruits ripen, 0,5 liters per bush.
