Each summer resident strives to make the site well-groomed and tries to grow a rich harvest. So that the season does not disappoint, different varieties of vegetables are planted, both early and late. Cucumber variety Adam F1 is quite popular with gardeners.
Variety description
Bushes of cucumber varieties Adam F1 grow vigorous, form a medium weave and have a female type of flowering. Already a month and a half after sowing, you can start harvesting. Ripe cucumbers Adam F1 acquire a rich dark green hue. Sometimes stripes of light colors appear on vegetables, but they are weakly expressed.
Crispy and juicy fruit has a pronounced cucumber smell. Adam F1 cucumbers are distinguished by a pleasant, gently sweetish taste. Cucumbers grow in length on average up to 12 cm and weigh approximately 90-100 g each.
It is noteworthy that the Adam F1 variety is suitable for growing both in small vegetable gardens and in large farms. Cucumber is characterized by abundant fruiting when planted in different conditions: open ground, greenhouse, greenhouse.
The main advantages of the Adam F1 variety:
- early ripening and high yield;
- appetizing appearance and excellent taste;
- long-term preservation of fruits, the possibility of transportation over long distances;
- resistance to powdery mildew and other diseases.
On average, the yield of the Adam F1 variety is 9 kg per square meter of planting.
Growing seedlings
To obtain an earlier harvest, it is recommended to plant ready-made seedlings in a greenhouse or greenhouse. Hybrid seeds do not need pre-treatment. To ensure high-quality seedlings, it is recommended to carry out preliminary germination of Adam F1 seeds:
- the grains are placed in a moistened cloth and placed in a warm place;
- in order to increase the resistance of seeds to cold temperatures, they are hardened – they are placed in the refrigerator (on the lower shelf) for about three days.
Landing steps:
- Initially, separate containers are prepared. It is not advised to plant the Adam F1 cucumber in a common box, since this vegetable reacts painfully to frequent transplants. You can use both special peat pots and plastic cups (drainage holes are first made in the bottom).
- The containers are filled with a special nutrient soil mixture. The soil is moistened and seeds are placed in a shallow hole (up to 2 cm deep). The holes are filled with soil.
- All containers are covered with film or glass to prevent the earth from drying out quickly.
- The cups are placed in a warm place (temperature approximately + 25˚ C). As soon as the first shoots appear, you can remove the covering material.
Containers with cucumber sprouts Adam F1 are placed in a warm place, sheltered from drafts. For the friendly growth of seedlings, a lot of light is needed. Therefore, on cloudy days, it is recommended to use additional lighting.
To do this, you can transfer the seedlings to a cooler place at night (with a temperature of about + 19˚ C).
Approximately one and a half weeks before transplanting seedlings, Adam F1 begin to harden the sprouts. To this end, the containers are taken outside for a short period of time. Then every day the time the seedlings stay in the open air is increased. Before planting, the soil in a plastic cup and the soil in the beds must be moistened. You can plant seedlings in a greenhouse about a month after sowing the seeds.
If the climatic conditions of the region allow, then it is quite possible to sow planting material Adam F1 immediately in open ground. Optimal conditions are air temperature + 18˚ С, and soil temperature + 15-16˚ С.
Care for cucumbers
To obtain high-quality fruits and a bountiful harvest of Adam F1 cucumbers, it is recommended to follow a number of tips.
Cucumbers are great beds after such vegetables: tomatoes, potatoes, onions, beets.
Watering rules
If Adam F1 cucumbers are grown in a greenhouse, you don’t have to worry about high humidity. However, there are several nuances for irrigation:
- moisturizing procedures are carried out regularly, but their frequency depends on the age of the bushes. Seedlings require moderate watering (4-5 liters of water per square meter). And during the flowering period, the rate is increased to 9-10 liters per square meter. The frequency is 3-4 days. Already during fruiting (at a flow rate of 9-10 liters per square meter), daily watering of the bushes of the Adam F1 variety is carried out;
- among experienced gardeners there is no consensus about the time of watering. But the middle of the day is considered the best solution, since after watering you can ventilate the greenhouse (to eliminate high humidity) and at the same time the soil will not dry out much until evening;
- It is categorically not recommended to use a hose for watering cucumber Adam F1. Since a strong directional pressure of water can erode the soil and expose the roots. It is advisable to use a watering can with a sprayer or install a drip irrigation system. If, nevertheless, the roots have opened, then it is necessary to carefully spud the bush. Some gardeners form special furrows around Adam F1 cucumbers, through which water flows to the roots;
- for irrigation use exclusively warm water. Since cold water can lead to decay of the root system of Adam F1 cucumbers.
Be sure to control the condition of the leaves of the bushes. Because in extreme heat, the soil can dry out faster and this will lead to the withering of the green mass. Therefore, if hot, dry weather is established, then it is necessary to water the cucumbers more often.
Adam F1 cucumbers really need moist soil. However, this culture also needs high-quality aeration. Therefore, soil compaction can lead to the death of the root system. It is recommended to regularly loosen the soil and mulch. When watering, it is also recommended to avoid getting water on the green mass of the bushes.
Soil fertilization
Top dressing is the key to high yields of Adam F1 cucumbers. It is recommended to combine watering and fertilizing. There are several stages of fertilizer application:
- before flowering, a mullein solution is used (1 cup of manure per bucket of water) and a teaspoon of superphosphate and potassium sulfate are added. After a week and a half, you can re-fertilize the soil with a slightly different composition: take half a glass of mullein, 1 tbsp. l nitrophoska;
- during the fruiting period, potassium nitrate becomes an important mineral fertilizer. This mixture ensures the growth and development of all parts of the plant, improves the taste of cucumbers. For 15 liters of water take 25 g of mineral fertilizer.
Too much nitrogen will delay flowering. This also manifests itself in a thickening of the stem and an increase in the green mass of the bushes (the leaves acquire a rich green tint). With an excess of phosphorus, yellowing of the leaves begins, necrotic spots appear, and the foliage crumbles. An excess of potassium prevents the absorption of nitrogen, which entails a slowdown in the growth of Adam F1 cucumbers.
General recommendations
In the greenhouse and with the vertical method of growing Adam F1 cucumbers, it is important to tie the plants to the trellis in time. When forming bushes, conditions are created for the optimal lighting regime. Cucumbers do not obscure each other, they are well ventilated, they practically do not get sick.
If Adam F1 bushes are tied up in a timely manner, plant care is greatly facilitated, it is easier and faster to harvest, weed the beds. And if you pinch the shoots in time, it is possible to significantly extend the fruiting period.
The main stem of the Adam F1 variety is tied to a support when 4-5 leaves appear on the bush. As soon as the plant grows to a height of 45-50 cm, it is necessary to remove the side shoots (as long as they are shorter than 5 cm). If this is done later, the plant may get sick. When the main shoot grows to the height of the trellis, pinch it.
Compliance with the simple rules for caring for the Adam F1 cucumber variety will allow you to harvest appetizing and beautiful fruits for most of the season.
