The cruciferous flea is an earthen plant from the leaf beetle family. She lives throughout Europe and Asia. Fleas and their larvae feed on the leaves of cruciferous and cabbage plants. There are different methods of dealing with these pests.
How to deal with cruciferous flea with folk methods
The simplest method of control is regular, abundant watering of the plants. The flea does not like dampness. Plant cabbage and cruciferous crops in the wettest parts of your garden.
The cruciferous flea leaves characteristic holes on the leaves
Dry pollination of the leaves can also be carried out. Sew a gauze bag and fill it with a choice of road dust, fine lime, tobacco dust. Mix any of these components in equal parts with wood ash. In the early morning, before the dew has cleared, shake the bag of filler over the plants. The dust will mix with the dew and stick to the leaves. Contaminated flea leaves will not eat.
Spraying with infusions is effective against flea beetles. Here are some recipes:
- Grind 0,5 kg of dandelion leaves and roots in a meat grinder or blender. Mix them with a bucket of water, let stand for a while, strain, add 1 tbsp. l. liquid soap.
- Boil a strong broth of green wormwood. Add garlic gruel to it. Dilute the mixture with water at the rate of 100 g of raw materials per 10 liters of water. Let it brew, strain.
- Pour 4 kg of potato tops with 10 liters of cold water, bring to a boil, cool, strain, dilute with water in half.
- Pour 200 g of tobacco with 10 liters of boiling water. After a couple of hours, strain, add 1 tbsp. l. liquid soap.
- 1 tbsp. l. chop tomatoes and garlic cloves in a meat grinder, dilute in 10 liters of water, strain, mix with 1 tbsp. l. soap.
Use all the described products for spraying plants at any time of the day.
How to deal with the cruciferous flea with chemicals
Chemistry needs to process seedlings. The following means are suitable: “Sherpa”, “Decis”, “Arriva”, “Karbofosa”, “Aktara”. You can also ask the corresponding stores for analogs of these funds.
It is necessary to spray plants with chemicals in the evening after sunset. At this time, fleas sit on the leaves and there is an opportunity to hit the maximum number of pests. Remember that all the products described belong to the category of insecticides, so they cannot be used for early ripening plants!
The cruciferous flea on cabbage, turnips, radishes and other similar plants is the scourge of gardeners. But this pest can be overcome with folk and chemical means.
