Cromohexal is a nasal spray designed to counteract seasonal or perennial rhinitis. The drops can be used by both children and adults. The main active ingredient of Cromohexal is disodium cromoglycate. We check how the aerosol works and how to use it.

Cromohexal – action

Cromohexal to antiallergic drugwhose main task is to stabilize the cell membranes of mast cells, as well as prevent their degranulation. The aerosol can be used both in the early and late stages of an allergic reaction. Cromohexal also prevents asthma attacks. The preparation is excreted from the body along with urine and faeces.

Cromohexal – dosage

Cromohexal is administered by inhalation into the nose. It is absorbed by 2%. Both children and adults should use the spray four times a day with one inhalation into each nostril. One dose of Cromohexal contains 2,8 mg of disodium cromoglycate.

Cromohexal – contraindications

The main contraindication to the use of Cromohexal is hypersensitivity to the active substance or any of the excipients of the preparation. Women who are in the first trimester of pregnancy should consult a gynecologist regarding the dosage of the spray.

Cromohexal should be stored in a tightly closed package in a place where children cannot reach.

Cromohexal – side effects of use

The most common side effects that may arise from the use of Cromohexal include:

  1. irritation of the nasal mucosa;
  2. nausea;
  3. skin rash;
  4. swelling of the parotid salivary glands;
  5. headache and dizziness;
  6. watery eyes;
  7. gastrointestinal disorders.

Occasionally disturbances may occur that make it difficult to pass urine.

Cromohexal – price and availability

Cromehal is available over the counter in pharmacies. Its price is about PLN 20. Disodium cromoglycate is not the only active ingredient of Cromohexal. It is also found in such preparations as:

  1. Allergo-Comodo,
  2. Allergocrom,
  3. Cromoxal,
  4. Cusicrom,
  5. Lecrolyn,
  6. Nalcrom,
  7. Vividrin.
