Croissants: how to cook at home? Video
Croissant is a small bagel made from yeast dough. As a rule, different fillings are wrapped in it: jam, chocolate, poppy seed mixture. This dish is especially popular in France, but the Austrians were the first to come up with this bakery product. Croissants are easy to make at home, which will delight family and friends with a delicious tea treat.
The classic croissant recipe
Ingredients: – 500 g of premium wheat flour; – 1 egg; – 200 ml of milk; – 100 ml of sunflower oil; – 2 teaspoons of salt; – 5 g of pressed yeast; – 2 teaspoons of sugar; – a bar of milk or bitter chocolate.
Heat the milk. Add yeast and sugar to it, stir and wait 5 minutes. Add the prepared mixture to a deep bowl of flour, mix everything thoroughly. Put salt, vegetable oil and protein in the same place. Substitute the dough, then cover it with plastic or a towel and leave it in a draft-free room for 1,5 hours. After the allotted time, it should increase by 2 times.
Sprinkle the table with flour and put the dough on it. Form a thick sausage from it and cut it into 8 identical parts, each shape into a ball. Let the dough sit for 15 minutes. Melt the butter. Roll the dough balls into 5 mm flat cakes and place them on top of each other, grease them with butter. The last cake does not need to be greased.
Use a rolling pin to turn the stack of tortillas into one thin, round layer. Cut this layer into 16 equal sized triangles. Place 2 pieces of chocolate on the wider part of each and roll the triangles nicely into a roll. You should have a croissant.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for baking. Place croissants gently on top of it. Brush them with a mixture of the remaining yolk and 2 tbsp. spoons of milk. Leave the croissants for 20 minutes. Then put them in an oven preheated to 200 ° C and bake for 10-15 minutes. Sprinkle the finished croissants with powdered sugar.

Whip up croissants with poppy seeds
Ingredients: – 500 g of yeast puff pastry; – 1 yolk; – 150 g of poppy seeds; – 1 teaspoon of butter; – 1 teaspoon of sugar; – 1 tbsp. spoon of honey.
To prepare the filling for such croissants, it is important to properly process the poppy seeds. Pour boiling water over it and leave for 15 minutes. Then drain the water and dry it a little with a napkin. Melt butter in a saucepan, add honey and sugar. Mix everything thoroughly, put in the poppy seeds and mix again.
Cut the dough thawed at room temperature into triangles of the same size. Spread a small amount of the filling over them and roll into a roll. Brush with yolk, place on a baking sheet lined with parchment and bake for 10-15 minutes at 200 ° C.
