Creamy Pasta Hamburger Casserole

This recipe combines lean beef, millet groats, egg pasta, and creamy tomato sauce. The final touch is the Cheddar cheese topping. Since this dish is much less high in calories than those cooked in a pan, it has every chance of becoming a new family favorite.

Servings: 6

Ingredients:

  • 2 bundle of green onions
  • 250 gr. lean ground beef
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons canola oil
  • 1/2 cup millet (see tips and notes)
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 100 g tomato paste
  • 1 / 2 cups of water
  • 1 / 4 teaspoon salt
  • Freshly ground pepper to taste
  • 150 g egg pasta
  • 1 cup low-fat country cheese
  • 1 cup low-fat sour cream
  • 1/4 cup grated cheddar cheese

Preparation:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a baking dish or sprinkle it with cooking spray. Boil water in a large saucepan.

2. Cut off the white part from the green onion. Chop everything finely and set apart.

3. Sear the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat. Remember to stir it with a wooden spoon, cook for 3-5 minutes. Transfer the minced meat to a plate, placing a napkin on it.

4. Wipe the pan and add the oil and onions. Reduce heat. Add millet, garlic, and white portions of green onions. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the onions are tender, about 5 minutes. Add tomato paste, water and minced meat, bring everything to a boil. Then lower the heat a little and continue cooking until the millet is soft and the sauce thick, about 15-20 minutes. Then salt and pepper everything.

5. Meanwhile, cook the pasta. They are boiled for about 6-8 minutes, or according to the time indicated on the package. Rinse them with cold water.

6. Use a food processor to smoothly mash the country cheese. Move it to a bowl, add sour cream and green onions.

7. Spread half of the pasta over the baking dish. Then lay out a layer of the rustic cheese, sour cream and onion mixture. A layer of minced meat with tomato sauce. Then again a layer of pasta, a mixture of country cheese, minced meat. Sprinkle everything with Cheddar cheese on top.

8. Bake the casserole until bubbling, about 30-40 minutes. Let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Tips and Notes:

Tip: It is important to use quality millet, you will find it in any good supermarket.
