Covid-19: how does the vaccination certificate work?
Since May 3, those first vaccinated against Covid-19 in France have received a vaccination certificate. A precious document, in digital and physical version, justifying the vaccination. In the future, this certificate can be used as a health pass for travel to Europe.
What is the vaccination certificate used for?
This is an official certification of the administration of a vaccine against Covid-19 disease. As the government specifies, “This certificate is expected to evolve to adapt to European standards, in order to first facilitate the movement of European citizens on the territory of the Union, then international movement. It is a first step towards the health pass or green passport voted on April 28, 2021 by the European Parliament, following the proposal of the European Commission. This tool will cover three types of certificates: the negative test certificate, the certificate of recovery from Covid-19 and the certificate of vaccination against Covid-19 “.
What does it look like ? How do you get it?
After receiving a vaccine, a paper certificate is issued immediately. The document contains two electronic seals in the form of a QR Code allowing the certificate to be stored digitally on their phone. By scanning it, the certificate slips into the section “Certificate and booklet“ of the TousAntiCovid mobile application. The latter is available for free on IOS and Android. The application is not mandatory but recommended, especially if you want to leave the territory this summer or go to an event of more than 1.000 people.
The document has a signature used by the French administration to certify its documents, undoubtedly a process used to thwart counterfeiting. The vaccination certificate also includes the patient’s last name, first name, date of birth and the due dates for the first and second injection.
I was vaccinated before May 3: how do I get my QR code?
If you received your doses before then, don’t panic. For all those who have an account managed by the primary health insurance fund (CPAM), a portal will be dedicated to the Ameli.fr site and it will be possible by the end of the month to recover their identifiers.
I don’t have an Ameli account, what should I do?
It will be possible to go to a pharmacy with its paper certificate to request the QR code version, according to the media La Voix du Nord. However, the regional daily in the North specifies that not all pharmacies do so, out of three pharmacies contacted by their care, two confirmed having recourse to the update of the document.
Even if the initiative can start from a good feeling, since for some it is about expressing their joy at having received the serum, some people and in particular on social networks can have bad intentions. When you obtain your certificate in paper version, you have a “Datamatrix”, ie a registration number containing your personal data (age, surname and first name, date and vaccine injected).
People can then steal your identity and enter places or perhaps move around using your certificate. Scam attempts are also possible. Hackers can pretend to be Health Insurance or a medico-social establishment and put you in confidence, to extract other information or even your bank details by email.
