Two months ago, the daily number of coronavirus infections exceeded 20. Currently, this is an average of less than 400 cases. Less than two and a half months ago, we experienced the darkest day since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic in Poland. On April 1, the number of new SARS-CoV-2 infections reached a record 35 cases. A week later – on April 246, 8 people were informed of the deaths – so many deaths have not yet been reported.
Fortunately, today the situation is completely different. Infection rates are the lowest in months, and in fact for almost a year (when it comes to deaths, we currently have more than in the corresponding period of 2020). The detailed epidemic situation in Poland is presented in the chart below.
During a press conference on June 10, Adam Niedzielski noted that “the average number of new infections fell below 400 people a day” and that “the percentage of positive tests is extremely low, less than 1 percent.”
The minister of health also noted that over the last week, 20 zlotys were received from all health care centers in the country. orders for the execution of tests, while at the height of the third wave there were 280 thousand. – It shows that the situation is improving – assessed Niedzielski.

Evidence of the improvement in the situation is also the compilation of Piotr Tarnowski, an expert who collects and analyzes data on the coronavirus in Poland. On June 8, on Twitter, the specialist informed about the situation in poviats regarding infections (last seven days) and deaths (last 14 days). The summary showed that in 11 poviats there were no new cases of illnesses or any deaths due to or with the involvement of COVID-19. No new cases were registered in 12 poviats, and no new deaths were recorded in 68.
Tarnowski updated these data on June 10. In just three days, eight poviats without new infections and deaths, one poviat without new infections and one poviat without any deaths.

COVID-19 in Poland. What will be the situation in the fall?
Looking at the statistics related to the COVID-19 epidemic, many Poles see them as evidence at the end of the pandemic. In a recent interview with Medonet, Prof. Andrzej Fal, head of the Department of Allergology, Lung Diseases and Internal Diseases at the hospital of the Ministry of Interior and Administration, drew attention to a very important fact. – A pandemic is by definition a global phenomenon. This means that the level of new infections in Poland or even the mortality rate in our country do not indicate the end of the pandemic, but only the current situation – here and now. Secondly, during last year’s holiday we also saw such significant reductions in indicators, and then unfortunately we recorded again increases in the number of infections and deaths.
The expert emphasized the fact that compared to last year, the current situation is different, because more and more Poles are vaccinated people. – It makes transmission of the virus in society more difficult. Thanks to this, we can enjoy these drops more than last year.

The expert also predicted what might happen in the fall – namely that we will face an increase in the incidence, although not as violent as the last wave of the epidemic. – It will be the fourth wave rather than a wave. It will result from our holiday behavior. We must expect it, but I have faith in our vaccinations – thanks to them it will not be like the previous wave, both in terms of the number of infections and severe cases that can be fatal. But the trend on the part of the ministry is also reasonable, to keep a certain part of covid departments or hospitals under such a “light steam”, because this “falka” will probably appear and it will have to be “handled” somehow.
