Yulia Efimova answers the questions from our beauty dossier. XNUMX-time Olympic medalist, XNUMX-time World Swimming Champion and Orbit Ambassador shares her beauty secrets and the importance of self-confidence.
My skin is combination, but since I spend a lot of time in the pool and in the sun, it tends to be dry. And the scalp, despite the fact that the ends of my hair are dry, is quite oily. To solve this problem, I do a special peeling, thanks to which I can not only get rid of dead cells, but also create root volume. The main self-care product is cream. Workouts in the gym and the pool, chlorinated water – all this dries the skin very much, so I always have a whole arsenal of moisturizing creams for face and body with me. And now I also take restoring hair products with me to the training camp: I had the imprudence to dye my hair and now I am eliminating the consequences. The main criterion in choosing a face cream is its moisturizing properties. Also, the composition of the product is always very important for me, I give preference to brands with natural ingredients. Before buying a new cream, I always consult with a consultant: I am interested to know what new products have appeared, what components are included in the composition. I also always take a product sample to make sure the product is right for my skin type. One of my favorites is coconut oil. It is really multifunctional: it can be used for hair, face, body. Unfortunately, make-up and swimming are not compatible. In my free time from training, I like to use cosmetics, especially when I am in Russia; I really like MAC lipsticks and shadows, lately I prefer the American brand Anastasia Beverly Hills. She has excellent products for the face, eyebrows, and I also really love the highlighters of this brand.
Yes, of course, there were other hobbies. We have a sports family: my grandmother was engaged in cycling and even took part in championships, and my parents worked as swimming instructors. Sport has always been in my life. As a child, I also took up dancing and aerobics, was seriously fond of drawing. She also continued her studies in a regular school. In general, I got used to a busy schedule since childhood, but my main hobby was still swimming – it became my profession and my whole life’s work.
Before the competition, it is important to concentrate, to find inner strength and confidence in yourself. The support of loved ones and spectators is very important here. The last minutes before the start are the most difficult – it seems that all the preparation was wasted and nothing will work out, there is a fear that the opponents are much stronger. At such moments, I recommend that you get angry at your own cowardice and everyone who does not believe in you. This helped break many world records. For me, the most difficult test in my sports career was the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Before the first final swim, I heard the whistle of the crowd. I remember being surprised at how sincere their indignation was, and then I got together and won the silver medal. And in a few days – another one.
I’ll start with the obvious – this is, of course, sport. You don’t have to exhaust yourself with hours of training to stay in shape. The ideal pastime is running. Even a 30 minute, slow paced run works wonders. Simple recipes are sometimes the most correct. For example, do not neglect such a well-known advice as drinking a glass of water in the morning. It really works. Don’t forget about healthy eating too. I am not at all a supporter of any diets, but I believe that the diet should be rich in vegetables, fruits and herbs. I really like various salads, where there is arugula, avocado, green asparagus, strawberries.
